Ombudsman’ dollar report: “Just a sheet”

PDFPrintE-mail

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… `at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female’. ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh’…” (Jesus Christ, our God and Savior, in Mark 10:6-8, the Holy Bible).

CELEBRATING 32 YEARS OF MARRIAGE: How should a husband and a wife who had been married for 32 years celebrate their “coming together” after all these years? For my wife and I, thanking God is more than enough celebration, and praying that, may He continue showering His blessings, guidance and protection to us and our only child---a daughter---and to our respective families.

Indeed, may the admonition of Jesus Christ, in Mark 10:9 of the Bible, be always true for us and all other couples out there striving and struggling to remain faithful and true to one another: “… Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate…” Amen? In the name of Jesus, Amen!!!

MORALES’ REPORT: “JUST A SHEET”: “All the hypocrisy, I cannot stand,” was how Estrella Martinez, a CPA-lawyer who served the Bureau of Internal Revenue for 32 years, dismissed the claims made by Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales during a Senate hearing that Chief Justice Renato Corona has some US$12 million in dollar deposits.

“Just a sheet,” with no probative value and could not be used against Corona was, on the other hand, how Martinez described the 17-page document which Morales and presented to the Senate during the hearing, pointing out that it was not even authenticated or validated according to the rules of evidence. Morales’ document is garbage, Martinez said. And will Morales care to take up the challenge of Martinez to a debate between the two of them?

Now, there are two challenges against Morales: for her to resign if she cannot prove Corona’s supposed 82 dollar accounts, coming from Corona himself, and for her to debate with Martinez, as Martinez is asking. Will Morales rise up to these challenges? She should, otherwise, Corona’s media statements that she is just being used to destroy him would be validated.

CHED AND “PROFIT PARTICIPATION”: President Aquino should have asked officials of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), which just celebrated its 18th foundation day last Thursday, May 17, 2012, this question: “Is it true that some CHED officials are receiving part of the tuition fees being paid by poor students in state colleges and universities nationwide as `profit participation’, even if these fees are much needed to improve the school’s facilities?” The answer will surely shock him!

RAINS AND FLOODS COMING, AS JESUS SAID: The warnings against rains and flash floods in Northern and Central Luzon and Mindanao due to a tail-end of a cold front and an inter-tropical convergence zone being made by the weather bureau should be taken very seriously by everyone. While PAG-ASA (or the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration) has proven largely inefficient in predicting the weather, the Bible contains similar dire warnings.

Jesus Christ, in Matthew 7:24-27 of the Bible, precisely warned mankind of rains, floods and strong winds coming to destroy and kill, especially for those who will no linger listen to His Word (or, even for those who listen to Him) and no longer obey His commands. Try reading this part of the Bible and you will see the reality of disasters from rains, floods and strong winds.

MANNY PACQUIAO AND THE “WORD”: So Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao apologized to gays and lesbians and other transgenders after he was severely criticized for his position against same sex marriages and unions. He said he was not condemning gays or lesbians. Oh well, if one is a gay and a lesbian, and he or she goes to bed with people of his own sex, will that not violate the admonition in the Bible against same sex unions? Come now, Manny, stand firm in the Word, or face the consequences!
