Zamboanga ICT Council Logo making contest winners bared

The newly-formed Zamboanga ICT Council (ZICT), the city’s primary advocate for the development and advancement of Information and Communications Technology particularly the game-changing Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry, recently adopted its official logo via a Logo-Making Contest which was ran from Aug. 28 - Sept. 19, 2012.

The top three winners were awarded a total of P 16,000.00 in cash prize in a simple awarding ceremony that was held in the office of eMergence Systems & Solutions, a local IT company that is owned by ZICT council chairman Mr. Felix Louell G. Saavedra.

The First Place Winner, Mr. Rabbi Stevens Turco received 10,000 in cash while the second (Michelee Parado) and third place winner (Kevin Daniel Simbajon) received 4,000.00 and 2,000.00, respectively.

Information Communication & Technology is a newly formed non-profit organization which aims to be the catalyst in bringing the BPO-IT investors here in Zamboanga City has conducted a Logo making contest which will make the design of the first place winner its official logo. The contest ran from August 28, 2012 until September 19, 2012.

Out of the 72 entries submitted, the tallied tally scores came up with the presented 3 winning designs that were judged according to overall concept and design impact (30%), relevance (30%), creativity (20%) and originality (20%).ers judged by the ICT council Judging was officer headed done by the ZICT ZICT President Chaiman Felix Louell Saavedra, Mr. Felix Louell Saavedra, Vice-President Mr. Michael Tiu Lim and One representative from the , Treasurer Board of officers Mr. Antonio Iturralde and council Executive Assistant Mr. Joseph P. Curada.

This was facilitated by DTI representative and council member Marjorie Pascual.  The resultwinning entries, as officially was announced last October 8, 2012 onin the Zamboanga ICT Council facebook Facebook page last October 8. The results , are as followsthe following:

The president of the ZICT Chairman, Mr. Saavedra, expressed how the first place chosen logo embodies the vision and mission aspirations of the Zamboanga ICT in sustaining the momentum of Zamboanga being the one of the next “Next wave Wave city Cities” in the ICT-BPO-IT industry.

The logo depicts industry growth and economic development that are brought about by the BPO industry, digital information technology that characterizes the industry’s global services, enabling of communications and data interconnections, and employment and economic empowerment of human resources.

The icons in the logo represents technology, communication, employment and urbanization. “The logo represents the vibrant and game-changing nature of this sunrise industry, qualities which each member tries to bring to the table in the ICT council,” commented the ZICT chairman Mr. Saavedra, also a member of the Zamboanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

“We are taking initiatives at great personal commitment and sacrifice to try to jumpstart the development of this industry in Zamboanga City. The logo must represent the passion, vigour and dynamism which each member of the team is exhibiting in our efforts of laying the groundwork that will create the right ecosystem for the BPO industry to thrive.”

The Awarding of the winners was held at the Emergence Systems and Solutions Office last October 18, 2012.With the active effort of the Zamboanga ICT Council to make a noise both locally and nationally by conducting conference and other activities which promotes Zamboanga as a viable hub for the IT-BPO industry, it will not be long until we see the growth of the BPO-IT industry here in Zamboanga City the following years.

The Zamboanga ICT Council, a newly formed organization affiliated with the Zamboanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc. which aims to promote zamboanga as a viable hub for IT-BPO industry recently awarded their winners of the ZICT Logo Making Contest.

Man accused of child abuse, arrested

Two teenagers filed a complaint for child abuse against a 55-year-old man at Police Station 7 last Sunday. Ellyn, married, a resident of Barangay Pasonanca, Zamboanga City, averred to the police that her daughter, 17 and niece, 15, were allegedly harassed and abused by the suspect.
