Parents of Tongkil mayoralty bet asks PNP chief not to be misled by son's false charge

PDFPrintE-mail

The parents of a mayoralty candidate of Tongkil municipality in Sulu have urged the police, military and other concerned government agencies not to heed to the request and not to be misled by false accusation of their son who is believed to have been hidden and given shelter by a politician either in Zamboanga City or in Manila.

In a joint sworn statement they executed, Hadji Abdulbaki Alih and Hadja Nurwina Halid Alih said that one of their children identified as Rashidin Alih is running for the position of municipal councilor under the ticket of Mayor Abdulwahid Sahidulla's son, Hadji Whajid I.
Sahidulla, who gave their all-out support and blessings for his son's candidacy.

However, the couple said they were never consulted when their other son Hadji Abdulajid Alih filed a certificate of candidacy for mayor and they strongly opposed his candidacy neither gave their support and blessings for it.

The couple also said in their affidavit that their son, Abdulajid Alih is a "black sheep" of the family and has never visited the municipality as he is reportedly a permanent resident of Zamboanga city with his family and he is no longer a resident of the said municipality nor
considered as a registered voter.

The couple added that they were worried and shocked that when they read the letter addressed to PNP director General Nicanor Bartolome dated October 28, 2012, accusing their cousin Mayor Abdulwahid 0. Sahidulla with anarchy and requesting for a police detachment at Kulapi, a sitio of Barangay Kahikukuk and not part of Barangay Dungon, which is allegedly under threat from Mayor Abdulwahid 0. Sahuidulla.

The parents of mayoralty aspirant Abdulajid Alih said their son is being politically used by some powerful politicians from Sulu "to destroy and divide mainly our family by issuing negative, false and baseless accusations against their cousin. Mayor Abdulwahid Sahidulla," who is also a gubernatorial aspirant against the incumbent Governor Sakur Tan's son and his wife.

Former congressman Munir Arbison's wife is also running against incumbent Second District Congresswoman Hja. Nur-ana I. Sahidulla.
The couple also said that as far as they know, the candidates running under the ticket of Abdulajid S. Alih are not residents of their municipality as they are related by affinity to their son and they are presently residing in Barangay Tictabon, Zamboanga city, for more than 10 years already and engaged in seaweed (agar-agar) farming as their livelihood.

The couple also disclosed that as per reliable information given to them, it is not Mayor Abdulwahid 0. Sahidulla who is reportedly threatening Sitio Kulapi but it is the combined "private army" of two big politicians from Sulu composed of about 300 fully armed men, "who are scheduled to land in the municipality to create havoc and destroy and divide their family and close relatives through the use of force and disturb the peace and tranquility of the municipality and so that their cousin. Mayor Abdulwahid and his wife, congresswoman Hja Nur-ana Sahidulla will no longer focus and concentrate on their campaign sorties in the province of Sulu."

The couple also attested that Mayor Abdulwahid 0. Sahidulla has ruled Tongkil municipality with progress and development and has turned Tongkil into one of the most peaceful municipalities in the province of Sulu "and the accusations of these people are all political harassments so that they could win and gain sympathy in their favor from the Comelecpersonnel, police, military and other concerned agencies.
