The greatest fools are
those who fool themselves
(Part one of two)
The proposed ARMM expansion is still alive and its insistence could change its meaning for me. Officially and legally, ARMM stands for Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao. But the insistency to expand it even more even to provinces and cities whose populace is majority Christians, then, to me, it could only mean one thing... ARMM is for Advance for Recognition, Multiply and Monopolize. But this is not a problem neither to or for me. I do not control future events. Only God arrange, manage, and control the future.
Sometime in the past, the Supreme Court declared: “VOX POPULI VOX DEI” which means, “The voice fo the people is the voice of God”. May 13, 2013 is destined to be the day for your voice to be heard. And as Beng Climaco says, “Vaya con Dios” and trust in the Lord. God is our Creator and we are his creatures. All his creations He declared good; and God, the most dignified being created humans in his image and likeness and we inherit His dignity.
We become His intrumentality to do good.
May 13 is an election day, and Democracy is a government of the people, by the people and for the people. What then is the first good thing that we must do on election day? As our Constitution has a preamble, therefore we must pray for wisdom and guidance to do the right thing. Pray to remove and disentangle the confusion in your mind to be able to make the right decision. Remember, God is not the author of confusion; the devil and his demons are.
Election day is usually a day of conflict; and in any conflict I may have a good solution, you may have a better one, and still others may have to best, but the right solution always come from above. Only God can see the heart; and governance is an issue of the heart. If the heart of our leaders is righteous, even the worst kind of system can be improved. But if the heart is wicked, then even the best system will be corrupt. So as Beng Climaco says, “Vaya Con Dios” and trust in the Lord.
I know that some electorates are ready to make decisions concerning taxes, but as Christians we are mandated to be good taxpayers. The Lord Jesus commanded to pay taxes to the authorities of the Roman Empire. This is a Biblical teaching (Romans 13). Why? Because all government is ordained of God. And Biblically we are told to carefully guard our thoughts because they are the source of true life (Proverbs 4:23).
Let’s not try to correct a wrong by committing another wrong. Besides, it is the legislative that promulgate the law (taxes and whatever) into effect. The executive is mandated to implement them, and in any conflict of law, the Judiciary is the authority to interpret and give justice to it. Let’s do the right thing. The former USA President John F. Kennedy says: “Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country.”
To the readers and poor disgruntled taxpayers... Yes!, I understand your sentiments especially with the imposition of payments of impractical and unneccessary fees and dues. But let’s do the barking at the right tree. It is with SP where common sense are no longer very common, and we know that the greatest fool are those who fool themselves.
TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY
