Desecration of rule of law at Comelec

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights…” (Habakkuk 3:19, the Holy Bible).

PAGING CIVIL SERVICE, DEPED: Here’s one for the Civil Service Commission and the Department of Education: our readers from Dingras, Ilocos Norte are asking why the Commission and the Department have been refusing to act on their complaint against a female elementary school teacher whom they wanted removed from the school on account of immorality.

The readers are complaining that not only is the teacher, who is very much married, living in with another man, but, also, that several sex video scandals featuring her are circulating in the province. What is more, our readers are saying that the teacher also have other immorality cases against her before the National Bureau of Investigation, which are unresolved. The concern in Ilocos Norte is: how come the erring teacher seems untouchable?

HOMOSEXUALITY, A REACTION: From a reader whose cellular phone number is 0908 194 2448, on our column about male and female homosexuals: “So, what is it to you if we are homosexuals? Mind your own business. Are you the ones feeding us? You are fools.” Points well-taken, dear reader, but you misunderstood what I said. It is not I who is meddling with your homosexuality, but God, through His Word, in Romans 1:18-32 of the Bible.

And so we are reminded once more of the salient verses in that part of the Bible, we are reproducing these salient points once more: “… For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.

“Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones.  In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men…” If these verses are completely read, it will be clear that the penalty for this is death.

DESECRATION OF RULE OF LAW AT COMELEC: Indeed, why should the Commission on Elections (Comelec) insist on taking away one seat each from the Buhay and the An Waray party list groups, to be given to the Senior Citizens party list when, as of now, there are still five vacant party list seats which have not been allocated yet?

Surely, there is no logic in what the Comelec is trying to do, unless Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr and his commissioners have already committed those five vacant seats to some other groups, so they have to take away from Buhay and An Waray, to accommodate Senior Citizen.

Excuse me, but this kind of questionable rulings from the poll body confirm beyond reasonable doubt that the rule of law is being desecrated in the Comelec, and only the rule of men---despotic and whimsical---is being upheld. This is the reason why talks about party list accreditation and proclamation, for a fee, refuse to die down and continue to persist despite loud denials by Brillantes and his cohorts.

ROXAS & DISASTER PLAN: CONSULT THE BIBLE: Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas is valiantly trying to galvanize and strengthen the government’s disaster preparedness plan, and that is good, but, sadly, what he is trying to do now will not really help our countrymen when the rains, floods and strong winds come. What he is doing had already been done by past secretaries, but disasters continued to kill and destroy. Perhaps, he should try to study the Biblical aspect of disasters, so he can make a difference!
