You can take away a Filipino from the Philippines but you can never take the Philippines away from the Filipinos. Indeed, physical boundaries pose no limitations to celebrating the countries 115th commemoration of Emilio Aguinaldo’s declaration of Philippine Independence.
Pride comes echoing to our shores from the proud roars of our brothers and sisters working in the thriving city of Singapore. Last June 16, 2013, an attendance of Filipino expats by the thousands gathered at Telok Ayer Hong Lim Green Park Singapore. This event was born out of the efforts of the Filipino Expatriates Wives present in the very city. This year’s event is a showcase of the best of what the Philippines can offer in terms of food, products, music, dances, games and other cultural activities.
Supporting this nationalistic event is M Lhuillier Philippines – Ang Tulay ng Pilipino among the other sponsors of the event. Driven with their passion for service and the strength of bridging cities and nations, they have imposed upon themselves the quest of adding to this chance for migrants to experience a reminiscent lookback of their humble yet unbowing noble roots.
Razel Elizalde, M Lhuillier’s Business Development Officer shared that, it’s most important that we always find ways to invigorate activities that promote cultural appreciation most especially to OFWs who have long been away from their families. This is to remind them that the fruits of there labor’s best harvest will always be waiting back home.
Games and prizes were also made available by the leading non-bank financial institution to inspire thrill and animate the run of the entire day’s celebration. The Roulette, an unfading icon of all Philippine Carnival setting, was played to revolve and dictate the fate of the earnest player as to what prize he is to bring home. Also, the Wire Loop Game did share a sly of intrigue to those who tried to place their manual dexterity to the test. ML Fans were given away to beat the heat as much as company shoulder bags were handed out to unload the modern day katipunero of his handful.
ON-SITE KWARTA PADALA REMITTANCE TRANSACTIONS via KP-To-Go Cards were given as prizes to 15 lucky winners during the event! Each of the winners were given the chance to send TWO THOUSAND PESOS straight to their families back in the Philippines after just a few clicks from their own cellular phones.
Adding excellence in the art of Philippine entertainment are numbers coming from famous showbiz icons that really brought the house down. Performances in the likes of Pokwang’s comedic antics, John Prats’ charms and dance floor moves, Jay-R’s seranading tunes, and Rhian Ramos’ grace and feirce attraction on stage got the audience at the height of their excitement. Even Singapores’ local pinoy entertainers came and delivered to impress a satified audience.
