A Path to Peace Trainers’ Training Program

PDFPrintE-mail

“Peace where are you?” This is the cry of many in the world today. Often the answer is: “We need more dialogue to achieve peace”. Guided by this hope many international, national and local efforts have been explored to find solutions through “dialogue” in different forms of assembly, gathering and researches. While we appreciate all efforts coming from “sincere intentions”’ we still are far from the real peace in the world. Why?

Many peace programs and activities usually start with the question of “How”. Silsilah has always started from the question “why” to have the stronger motivation to answer to the “how” questions. For thirty years, Silsilah has been committed to form people, especially Muslims and Christians, to work together for peace starting from  formation on personal transformation as a condition to have a stronger social transformation and to help in the process to build peace in our society. This orientation of Silsilah has brought us to prepare a series of modules on the Culture of Dialogue: Path to Peace.

The new book, A Path to Peace prepared by Fr. Sebastiano D’Ambra,PIME is a formation manual for dialogue and peace to help all, especially leaders, to enter in the spirit the Culture of Dialogue as an answer to a spiritual need and commitment. The book was launched on the 30th Anniversary of the Silsilah Dialogue Movement, on May 10, 2014, and is now becoming a basic formation manual.

The first batch which experienced this special training was a group of leaders and faculty from different schools from Pagadian. The participants were able to internalize the different parts of the book and to understand the importance of the Culture of Dialogue in the present reality. The basic abstract that guides us in this presentation is to face the CURRENT REALITIES of conflicts, injustices, violence, etc. the VISION OF PEACE which guides the dream to achieve justice, love and unity etc. The CULTURE OF DIALOGUE in this presentation is introduced as an instrument to help the vision of peace to enter  this society with deeper motivation.  In this process the current reality is transformed.

This Trainers’ Training gives a special attention to the dialogue with GOD, SELF, OTHERS and CREATION. From this stage of learning the manual guides to some specific points of formation that can be applied in society and offers some challenging guidelines to help in solving the conflict, proposing the ACTIVE- HARMONY APPROACH that is the fruit of spirituality and THE CULTURE OF DIALOGUE. The book also presents a number of appendices that help to clarify and deepen some modules of the formation manual. The participants from Pagadian, at the end of the training, expressed their gratitude and enthusiasm to echo the training program in their schools. At the same time, they committed to gather regularly as a group to continue to deepen their formation, not only to develop the skills, but also to apply the knowledge in their experience of life. Silsilah is determined to work in this direction, with a special target to form Muslims and Christian leaders.
