PDFPrintE-mail

As part of the commemoration of the upcoming 51st Fish Conservation week this October 2014, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) will hold its nationwide Fish-Sing BFAR Hymn Making contest which is open to the youth specifically the enrolled high school and college students.

The competition is part of the bureau’s effort to promote its significant role in fostering public awareness on the protection and conservation of the fishery resources and hopes to strengthen its identity as a government agency and invoke oneness and unity among BFAR employees. The winning entry will be used by the BFAR as its official hymn to be sung during flag ceremony and other assembly events.

The contest will be conducted in three levels: the regional screening; the preliminary screening at the Central Office and; finally, the selection of three (3) grand prize and two (2) consolation prize winners. The Top three (3) national winners prizes at stake will be P30,000.00 & plaque of recognition for the 1st place; P20,000.00 & plaque of recognition -2nd Place; and P15,000.00 & plaque of recognition -3rd Place while the two (2) consolation-prize winners will get P7,500.00 & certificate of recognition which will be chosen from the regional finalists at the Central Office. For the Regional level, the top three winners shall received P15,000.00 each. The awarding will be held during the culmination of the Fish Conservation Week.

The theme of the hymn should focus on the significant role of BFAR as a government institution taking the lead in efforts towards sustainable development, protection and conservation of the country’s fishery resources giving equal importance to the contribution of other concerned agencies, fisherfolk organizations, NGOs, academe, industry and other concerned stakeholders.
