Final screening for Golden Crescent Achievement Awards (leadership category) on February 28


Prof. Ali T. Yacub, Al-Hj., Founder of the Golden Crescent Achievement Awards for Leadership has announced last Saturday, February 21, 2015 to the members of the Board of Directors of the Golden Crescent Consortium of Peace Builders and Affiliates, the organization which is handling the management of the Award of the Final Screening of the GOLDEN CRESCENT ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS (LEADERSHIP is scheduled on February 28, 2015 to be conducted in one of the rooms at the Western Mindanao State University. Communication on the use if the rooms had already been sent to Dr. Milabel E. Ho, WMSU President, so said Prof. Ali T. Yacub, Al-Hj., President, Golden Crescent Consortium of Peace Builders and Affiliates, and Founder of the Awards. The WMSU President as of this (February 23) late afternoon has approved the Conference Room for the use of GCCPBA.

The Division of City Schools through Supt. Pedro Melchor Natividad is actively cooperating on this particular Program, since GCCPBA has a Memorandum of Agreement with the Division Office signed last August 7, 2012, Prof. Yacub said.

Moreover, Prof. Yacub said, an Orientation and Briefing with School Coordinators of the Golden Crescent Achievement Awards will be held on February 24, 2015 (today) at 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon at the ZABIDA Peace and Development Resource Center, Macrohon Compound, Suterville, San Jose Gusu, this City.

The Policy and the Mechanics of the Screening will be discussed by some discussants coming from the GCCPBA Members of the Board and the Awards Committee.

Prof. Yacub, said, Dr. Salihmatal Lagbas, VP for External Affairs of GCCPBA heads the Awards Committee with Prof. Amyra S. Mohammad as the Co-Chair of the Committee. The other members are: Prof. Alrashid T. Jama, Engr. Ali “Al” S. Urao, Hon Aljihan Edding, Prof. Abdelazeem Mofh. Siddique, Mrs. Josephine B. Sanchez, Hja. Neneng Luy – Salikala, Datu Hussayin Arpa and Mr. Jaafar (Jeff) Kimpa.

In 2014, Prof. Yacub, said, there were 22 High Schools which participated in the Search for the Golden Crescent Achievement Awards awardees coming from the West Coast, East Coast and schools located at the Center of town both from the public High Schools and private High Schools in the city. There are fifty (50) awardees both in the Academic Excellence and Leadership Categories, Prof. Yacub, happily noted.

Prof. Yacub, said, he expects an enthusiastic response from the same schools which joined the ranks of the Golden Crescent Achievement Awards “Sapphire” anniversary, 45 years of Service to the Youth of the City.

With the commitment of themembers of the Awards Committee, Prof. Yacub sees a bright future of the Awards in the years to come.

380 aspiring fire officers take qualifying exams

More or less 380 applicants took the qualifying exam conducted by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP-IX) at the Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology, yesterday. District Fire Marshal, CI Clint Cha facilitated the tests and said that the Qualifying Examination is for different ranks from Fire Officer 2 (FO2) to Senior Fire Officer 4 (SFO4) coming from the different cities and municipalities.
