MAN IS VERY SPECIAL IN THE SIGHT OF GOD

WHY are we (human beings) very special in the sight of God? Because of the fact we’re all made unto His very own image here on the earth. “God created man in his image; male and female created he them.”(Genesis 1:27) Email: jayfeliciano2@yahoo.com

DON’T TRY BEING EVEL KNIEVEL IN ZC

ROAD accidents continue to mount in the number of cases in the city with the latest that claimed the life of an 18-year old young lass last Sunday night. The mishap was described as fatal to Jessa Almario y Rabor who hails from Olutanga, Sibugay Province. She was the back-rider of her older brother Joseph, driver of their Honda Wave single motorbike that figured in a collision with a huge truck whose driver wasn’t named in the published report. The duo tried to overtake the truck but it hit its rear that sent both sprawling down the road while they were traversing on Buenavista St. in Zone 2 near the intersection of Sucabon and Mayor Jaldon St., downtown section. Joseph wasn’t hurt but his younger sibling Jessawas declared DOA by the attending physician of UZ hospital where she was rushed following the road mishap.

Previous to it, a string of road accidents occurred last month, and scores of the victims are the young ones riding their single motorcycles that are mostly seen running the city streets with their drivers acting like EvelKnievel, that famous American  motorcycle-jumping stuntman who did a lot of death-defying feats while in his prime in the l960s up to his death due to lingering illness in 2007.

Knievel is a global icon but don’t imitate his ways as there’s only one EvelKnievel in the world.

NONETHELESS, so many of them right in here na mi ciudad de flores, without their knowing, are even trying to be like Knievel, and what happens to a lot of these daredevils, here?

They land either in the hospital or in the cemetery. So, don’t do it—especially on those too narrow roads of ours where right now, they’re practically all in a topsy-turvy state with all those troublesome pipe-laying and road-widening projects simultaneously being undertaken by both their respective gov’t entities (ZCWD and DPWH).

I heard from one veteran engineer that the water district’s pipe-laying works will finally end by June or July?

Really? Let’s find out if true.

OUR local PNP here makes sure they won’t stop their highly intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign in ZC. This being so, our local cops netted in their separate buy-bust operations, a total 13 drug users and/or pushers in the different sections of the city over the weekend. The barangays where they launched their separate stings vs. the drug menace, citywide were Camino Nuevo, Baliwasan, Sta. Maria, Southcom Village in Upper Calarian and Tugbungan. Kudos, guys!

BUT, can we expect you, guys, to also get the big fish here? ZC is considered a melting pot in the entire Zamboanga Peninsula and don’t tell us there are no big drug lords here. If what we hear as true that Western Visayas has the Espinosas as their drug kingpins out there, and Peter Lim as such also in Cebu, both as big as ZC, then there’s no doubt that— to our chagrin, our city has its own, as well.

But, if true only the fries can be found here and that there’s no one else as big as those known strong few already neutralized under the Duterte administration, like what happened to suspected drug lord, the slain Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa of Leytewho was killed right inside his prison cell while under police detention late last year, then there’s no cause for alarm when it comes to huge supplies of illegal drugs in this part of the country.

But we need you to do more to get the big pushers and their suppliers rather than just showing your stuff against the simpletons in this illicit drug trade business.

HOWEVER, still a great job on your part. We salute you just the same. Carry on, guys.

BENG, DIAZ DON’T JUST MATCH AT ALL

THE latest we learned our city gov’t finally offered a lot of huge size not any from the east-coast but in the city’s west-coast, particularly that one property already owned by the city originally planned for a public cemetery for the dead in the area.

SO that’s it, our city’s supposed counterpart to the BJMP’s ready funding of P194 million aimed for the transfer of the ZC reformatory center, or better known as ZC jail station, for so long a time, serves as the detention house of all crime suspects, mostly involved in illegal drugs.

But, wait, we heard that no less its jail warden C/Insp. Ervin Diaz is not sold to it. He expresses his apprehension over its long distance predicament when bringing their inmates to the court in the halls of justice which is located at the Pettit barracks that takes them long to travel, and thereby poses major risks to include their possible escapes and/or being rescued by their so-called comrade-in-arms having their vantage-ground to come to their aid. Brgy. Talisayan is roughly 20 or more kilometers west of the city proper and it takes even about half an hour to reach downtown where its traffic jams are expected to build up during peak hours of the whole working week days.

WHEN our lady Mayor Beng Climaco-Salazar got wind of Diaz’s unlikely comment, she urged that he put it into writing, and not simply be a blabber.

“ Ta mira yo bosing mas guapo c Diaz cun Arro poreso Ma’am Beng suporta ya tu cun warden Diaz diatom ste.”
