The Department of Energy(DOE) has approved the allocation and release of funds for the electrification of some 12 Barangays in the Province of Zamboanga Sibugay.
This came through after Gov. Rommel Jalosjos visited the Department of Energy Central Office early this Year.
On January 21, 2011, the Office of the Governor received a faxed letter from the Department of Energy (DOE), stating that they have approved and have qualified 12 Sittios/Puroks in Zamboanga Sibugay for electrification. This project is in line with the implementation of the DOE’s Household electrification Program (HEP), which entails the use of the Photovoltaic (PV) Solar Home Systems for off-grid electrification.
According to Engr. Venancio Ferrer, lll who accompanied the governor during his visit to the DOE Central Office, eleven (11) out of twelve (12) Sittios are getting not less than P1,000,000.00 for the said electrification project. This is a big assistance considering that the counter-part of the Provincial Government will only be at 10% .
On the other hand, the benefeciary Barangays will also be allocating a certain amount for the maintenance of said project. This is to ensure that this will be sustainable and will be maximized by the local residents.
Engr. Ferrer added that trainings will be conducted in every benefeciary Barangay to educate Barangay Officials on the proper handling and care of such project. Aside from this, they will be taught to organize the Barangay Power Association (BAPA) wherein two (2) of its members will be trained as Operator and Technician. The BAPA is also tasked to manage the sustainanble operation of the scheme and manage the collection of fees and its disbursements.
With this project, the Provincial Government is getting a total of almost 12M from the DOE.
Beneficiaries are the following Sittios and Puroks: Sittio Tinago/Puting Bato, Timalang and Maasin, Ipil; Sittio Timulan, Nazareth, Kabasalan; Purok 6 and 7 Sittio Bulansing, Sulo, Naga; Purok Malipayon, Upper Sulitan, Naga; Sittio Logame, San Antonio, RT Lim; Sittio Motop, Siawang, RT Lim; Sittio Pinili, Sto Rosario, RT Lim; Sittio Matanog, Banco, Titay; Sittio Looc Sioral, Looc Labuan, Tungawan; Sittio Tambis-tambis, Batungan, Tungawan; Sittio Tandu Taib, Labatan, Payao; and Purok 5, Guitom, Buug.
On the other hand, the Department of Energy (DOE) will be working on this project in collaboration with Zamboanga del Sur Electric Cooperative ll (Zamsureco ll) and Team Energy Foundation Inc. (TEFI) in coordination with the Office of the Governor and Provincial Planning and Development Office of Zamboanga Sibugay.
Engr Ferrer was pleased to announce that the implementations of this project is now underway and this 12 Sittios and Puroks are only initial beneficiaries since just recently, the DOE has approved another twenty (20) beneficiaries which will be announced by Gov. Rommel Jalosjos soon.
