“Moving Force in Filipino youth for peace, development and Human Security” will be the central vision of the Youth Solidarity for Peace (YSP), the youth arm of Peace Advocates Zamboanga (PAZ) and Interreligious Solidarity Movement for Peace (IRSMP) as it strengthens involvement of the youth in Zamboanga City and Region IX in the year 2012.
The YSP, being one of the 2011 National Awardees of the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) of the Republic of the Philippines will adopt the following as its missions for 2012. It will ensure the convergence of youth policies grounded on peace, development, governance and human security. Moreover, it commits to mobilize its resources for youth development as well as provide support to youth and other youth serving organizations, and demonstrate and advocate effective programs, projects and practices in communities and schools.
In its monthly meeting held last January 14, 2012 at the Solidarity Center, RT Lim Boulevard, this city, the youth volunteers who are strongly advocating the culture of peace as an advocacy identified mechanisms on how to make a meaningful 2012 journey.
It will strengthen its engagements on peace education, peace and governance, peace advocacy, peace and ecology, peace and business as well as approaches on peace and gender. Similarly adopting the components of PAZ being part of the Zamboanga Basilan Integrated Development Alliance (ZABIDA), it will work as a strong partner of PAZ in carrying out effectively its various programs to its partner stakeholders.
Being grounded on the Bridging leadership Framework, the movement is tasked to ensure that these emerging generations will be enriched with enabling experiences, thus, the YSP commit the following alongside the intentions of making this Volunteers Charter for PEACE as a model for the youth.
It will yield more youth-friendly service and programs in the delivery of processes to show and inculcate in young people the value of transparency and a sensitive public service; Strengthen Solidarity among members as well as other youth in order to promote the principle of servant and bridging leadership; Promote continuously the Culture of Peace as the main ingredient in the advocacy for peace, governance and development in the city; Integrate peace education among Sangguniang Kabataan and Tertiary Schools; Transform communities that entails processes that needs to re-engineering or maintain our involvement with other partners in the grassroots communities; Access resources that could respond promptly to concerns that need immediate feedback to the organization; Yearn youth engagements in policy making and other mechanisms that enhances Youth participation and operate volunteerism that could produce smile every time service is rendered and be proud of being of service to others
The YSP anchors its program on the theme “Continue Flourishing 2012, deepening the Roots of Solidarity”. The theme will serve as its fundamental guideline in making its service for peace in the city as a model scheme on how to not just raise the consciousness of the youth but able to empower them as leaders for the future generation. The group looks forward for its 4th Year Anniversary on February 26, 2012.
