The Silsilah Dialogue Institute is intensifying its effort to provide Special Formation program for Muslim and Christian leaders and professionals on the importance of harmony in society. The program will seek to bring together government and non-government individuals to rediscover the importance to live and promote the Culture of Dialogue, Path to Peace.
The program will organize 3-day seminars focusing on the theme "Rediscovering the Culture of Dialogue, Path to Peace in the Light of the Beatitudes and the Great Jihad" . Over the years this theme has been a priority of Silsilah which sees the importance of building dialogue on a sustainable foundation of personal and social transformation
The first 3-day (June 25-28, 2012) seminar under this program will reel off at the Harmony Village in Pitogo, Sinunuc, Zamboanga City.
The same formation program was organized in Quiapo, Manila on April 13-15, 2012 with the support of Msgr. Jose Clemente Ignacio, Rector/Parish priest of Quiapo Church. Silsilah has been in Quiapo since September 2011, assisting the parish's Ministry for Interreligious Dialogue. The participants of the Quiapo April seminar met again on May 26, 2012 to share significant experiences in promoting the spirit of interreligious dialogue in their respective communities and work places.
In order to maximize the presence of the Silsilah Forum throughout Mindanao, the Silsilah Formation Team of facilitators have scheduled seminar-workshops to be conducted in the following areas: Pagadian City in July, province of Basilan, Jolo and Sulu in September and other forum areas in November this year.
The Interfaith Council of Leaders (IFCL) of Zamboanga City on the other hand had their regular meeting on June 2, 2012 at the Silsilah Center, Zamboanga City during which the members ventilated their wish to provide a separate formation program for Muslims and Christians at the grassroots for the next coming months. Members of the IFCL, who are respected in their respective communities and organizations, will volunteer as resource persons or speakers in sessions in a one day activity. For the Muslim communities the topic will be "Focusing on Islamic Teachings and Practices in the Light of the Common Word" . For the Christian communities a Catholic Peace Building seminar-workshop will be conducted with the theme, "Rediscovering Dialogue and Peace in the Church in the Light of the Beatitudes". These initiatives are designed for Muslims and Christians (specifically for the Catholics) communities in Mindanao with special attention to ZamBaSulTa (Zamboanga, Basilan, Sulu & Tawi-tawi) areas.
Silsilah is determined to give priority to forming Muslims and Christians to rediscover the central part of their religion, encouraging each one to be guided by what is essential in the two religions – love of God and love of neighbour- in order to live and promote the spirituality of dialogue for the common aspirations of peace and harmony.
