LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… Now I will tell you what I am going to do to my vineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it will be destroyed; I will break down its wall, and it will be trampled. I will make it a wasteland, neither pruned nor cultivated, and briers and thorns will grow there. I will command the clouds not to rain on it…” (Isaiah 5:5-6, the Holy Bible).
OF WHISTLEBLOWERS AND SCAMMERS: Here’s a food for thought for all: did you notice how many of those who say they are members of the so-called “civil society” in our country, and who therefore are in the forefront of mass actions against supposed corruption in government, are themselves corrupt and immoral? For example, there is one loud-mouthed lady whistleblower who is not even paying the salaries of her own employees! Eoww!!!
20 DEAD IN 8-VEHICLE SMASH-UP IN QUEZON: It was a gruesome scene alright, and nothing could have depicted God’s anger any better, as Isaiah 5:25 of the Bible said. I am, of course, referring to the news photos of dead bodies lined up one after the other, covered by nothing but banana leaves and worn-out nylon canvass, on a part of the highway in Atimonan, Quezon Province.
The dead were passengers of the eight vehicles which were involved in a grim vehicular accident in the highway last Saturday, October 19, 2013, where 58 others were injured. Now, what is the relevance of Isaiah 5:25 of the Bible to that accident? Well Isaiah 5:25 talks about the mountains being shaken, and dead bodies being thrown on the streets like manure.
HOW TO FIGHT METRO 7.2 EARTHQUAKE: Isaiah and others like him said these misfortunes will continue to hound a nation who no longer listen to God and who no longer obey Him. Which is what is exactly happening to us now, if you care to understand. Tragedies upon tragedies (which might as well be the “mountains shaking” referred to in Isaiah) are befalling the Filipino nation, with the consequence that the dead bodies of the victims are being lined up on the streets and pavements, and almost everywhere else.
We will have more of these deaths, to the tune of thousands even, especially in the aftermath of the strong earthquake that is already due to hit Metro Manila in the next several days, as many geologists are saying now. At the rate things are going, there is nothing that anyone in government or in the private sector can do about this, considering that no one but no one is paying any attention to the underlying spiritual causes of these disasters and calamities.
A man named Hosea lamented a long time ago that people will perish for lack of knowledge and understanding, and this is what is unfortunately happening to us at present. We will all perish and die because we lack (or refuse to know in fact) the appropriate knowledge and understanding that would abate disasters, or that would enable us to escape from the coming wrath of God.
PUNO’S INITIATIVE TO FAIL? And it is precisely for the same reason—lack of knowledge and understanding and lack of spiritual direction—that I dare predict, with due respect, that the people’s initiative that former Chief Justice Reynato Puno is trying to lead against the pork barrel system is going to fail. Unless and until Puno and his supporters and followers will endeavor to include a program to instill spirituality among Filipinos, their fight is doomed.
Again, the reason is quite clear: the pork barrel system is infested with graft and corruption, by supposed morally-upright leaders, but who were in fact concerned only with their own personal interests. The system came into being only because of the pervasive greed and lust for power of people who masqueraded themselves as righteous and godly. Consequently, to fight off pork barrel, there has to be an effort to instill spiritual righteousness among our people and our leaders.
The urgent direction now should be to change the hearts and the minds of the Filipino—from the highest echelons of society to the lowest gutters of the citizenry. We must fight to instill morality, godliness, spirituality, and righteousness among our people now—in short, we must bring the Filipino back to God, by listening to His Word and obeying His commands—for it is only by doing so will real victory come over pork barrel, and over all forms of graft and corruption.
