John Kerry, et. al wrong on “Filipino spirit”

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… You may say to yourself, `My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.’ But remember the Lord your God…  If you ever forget the Lord your God… I testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed…” (Deuteronomy 8:17-19, the Holy Bible).

KERRY IS WRONG ON “FILIPINO SPIRIT”: US Secretary of State John Kerry and all others worldwide praising the “indomitable spirit” of the Filipino that “allowed” many of them to survive the onslaught of super typhoon Yolanda are all wrong, and are literally committing blasphemy against God.

The real and only reason why many Filipinos survived Yolanda (discounting, of course, the 1,200 persons who, the Philippine Red Cross said, died in the typhoon’s aftermath) is this: God protected them and enabled them to survive. Survival and overcoming Yolanda were never the work of any Filipino, from the government or the private sectors. It was the work only of God, period.

If Filipinos will start believing the yarn that it is their “indomitable spirit” that saved them, more devastating typhoons and natural calamities will come, and will crush that “proud spirit” and cause more death and destruction. When will we ever learn? When will we ever humble ourselves before God? When will we ever acknowledge His kingship over us, truthfully and sincerely, and thereby save ourselves from destruction?

CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCES & DISASTERS: From Dean Antonio La Vina of the Ateneo School of Government: “This is the third year in a row (that) the Philippines is hit by a climate-related disaster at the time of the annual (international) climate change negotiations. In 2011, it was Sendong in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan.  In 2012, it was Pablo in Southern Mindanao. And now, the Visayas.

“Most of our delegation are now on the way to Warsaw with some of us following in the next few days. Like in 2011 and 2012 when many in the Philippine delegation, including our head, Climate Change Secretary Lucille Sering, were from Mindanao, some of us are from, or have relatives, in the areas devastated by Yolanda/Haiyan. That includes Naderev Saño, our lead negotiator, whose family hails from Leyte…”

Reaction from me: there must be some urgent message in all these climate-related disasters, Mr. Dean. Maybe God is telling us that, in all these annual international climate change negotiations, something very important is being sidelined: the spiritual aspect of natural calamities. Maybe God is saying, the negotiations are useless without considering this spiritual aspect, Dean.

PREDICTIONS ABOUT DEADLY RAINS COMING TRUE: Just so we can understand that there is indeed a spiritual dimension in natural disasters, let us read Ezekiel 13 of the Bible: “… The word of the Lord came to me: `Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel… this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because of your false words and lying visions, I am against you…

“ `My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations… they lead my people astray, saying, `Peace,’ when there is no peace… (therefore) rain will come in torrents, and I will send hailstones hurtling down, and violent winds will burst forth…. In my wrath I will unleash a violent wind, and in my anger hailstones and torrents of rain will fall with destructive fury…

“I will tear down the wall you have covered with whitewash and will level it to the ground so that its foundation will be laid bare. When it falls, you will be destroyed in it; and you will know that I am the Lord…” This is clear, isn’t it? Let us therefore all go back to God, by furiously listening to, and reading, His Word and obeying His commands.
