Lacson and the spirituality of rehabilitation

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… When calamity comes, the wicked are brought down, but even in death the righteous seek refuge in God…” (Proverbs 14:32, the Holy Bible).

HOW TO FIGHT HIV/AIDS BETTER: What is the most effective campaign that the government can wage against the deadly HIV/AIDS virus? It is educating our people on the values taught by Jesus Christ, our God and Savior, as found in the Bible, that’s what!

We cannot fight AIDS and similar sexually-transmitted diseases by celebrating a “World’s Aids Day” and by government men blabbering about awareness and education and prevention campaigns.

We must teach our people spirituality to enable them to attain high moral standards, and HIV/AIDS will go away. We must teach our people to go back to God by reading His Bible and obeying His commands, and we can solve most of our problems more effectively. It is funny that almost all Filipinos have closed their eyes to this most simple, yet most effective, of all solutions to problems.

PACQUIAO SHOWS THE WAY TO REALLY HELP: The Aquino government must learn from what Sarangani Rep. and Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao is doing, in trying to help the victims of Yolanda in Eastern Samar, because that is the way to really help them: distributing Bibles to the victims and asking them to read it, and then persevere in their faith and belief in God’s love and kindness to believers.

As I have been harping on here, the only way to rehabilitate our people from the ravages of the calamities, natural and man-made, that have been pounding us for quite some time now—and thereby teach all of us how to really rise and overcome the tragedies that are yet to come rather surely—is by bringing ourselves back to God by instilling spirituality among ourselves through a daily reading of, and meditating on, and obeying, the Bible.

Again, the truth must be told: these calamities and tragedies befalling our nation and our people have been written and warned about in the Bible. There is a reason why they are hitting us like mad, killing our people, destroying our properties. We must understand this Biblical basis of all these, and then act according to what the Bible is saying. There is no other way, in fact, if we want to overcome them!

LACSON AND THE SPIRITUALITY OF REHABILITATION: And that is something that Rehabilitation Secretary Panfilo M. Lacson must realize and try to carry out, right from Day One of his new job. While a big part of his work to rehabilitate Yolanda-stricken areas would involve physical reconstruction of buildings and structures, he must also wage a campaign to revive or instill spirituality among the victims, in the way that Pacquiao is doing it.

Lacson must find a way to purchase Bibles from the rehabilitation fund that is to be given him, for distribution to everyone (including the people working with him). Then, he must find a way to regularly conduct “briefings” on what the Bible directs believers to do, and make sure that these Biblical admonitions and directions somehow become a part of the victims’ (and his colleagues’) daily living. This is the only way to succeed in his new position.

CIVIL SOCIETIES AS MESSIAH FOR DISASTERS? COME ON! There is a Facebook reaction to an article by www.rappler.com entitled “Wanted: Messiah for disasters”, which goes on like this: “What can civil society do to push this forward?” Well, given the track record of so-called “civil societies” in the country from 1986, I don’t think they can do anything to become the “Messiah for disasters”. Disasters have strong Biblical bases, and “civil societies” are anything but Biblical.
