Brain-eating amoeba hits US

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… If you do not carefully follow all the words of this law…  and do not revere this glorious and awesome name---the Lord your God---the Lord will send fearful plagues on you and your descendants… and severe and lingering illnesses… The Lord will also bring on you every kind of sickness and disaster not recorded in this Book of the Law…” (Deuteronomy 28:58-61, the Holy Bible).

GLOBAL WARMING GIVES RISE TO ILLNESSES: In its December 05, 2013 online issue, USA Today, one of the biggest American daily newspapers at the moment, reported on three new illnesses severely afflicting Americans. The headlines read: “Deadly `brain-eating parasite moves north”; “The global epidemic we can’t afford to forget”; and “Climate change spreading serious diseases”.

The “brain-eating parasite” has been identified as “Naegleria fowleri”, which is an amoeba that enters through the nose of a person and then reaches the brain. It is deadly and has the capacity to kill. It thrives and rapidly multiplies when the bodies of water where they live become warm and hot because of global warming.

The “global epidemic we can’t afford to forget” on the other hand refers to dementia, or a disease which induces forgetfulness or loss of memory. The “diseases being spread by climate change” meanwhile refer to a “cousin” of “Naeglreia fowleri” known as “Valley Fever”, and to similar brain-damaging diseases brought about by ticks infection, which give rise to episodes of “getting stupid” among the victims.

BRAIN-EATING AMOEBA HITS US: Here was USA Today’s report on “Naegleria fowleri”: “The `brain-eating amoeba’ lives in fresh water and proliferates when temperatures reach the 80s. It infects people by entering the nose and reaching the brain. Bridget Bahneman lost her daughter… seven-year-old Annie’s brain was destroyed by (the) amoeba…”

On dementia, USA Today said: “A… brief released Wednesday from Alzheimer’s Disease International… estimates that 135 million people worldwide will be living with dementia by 2050. That revised prediction is 17% above previous ones … The revised estimates better reflect the burden that Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia will place on the world’s economies and on families whose loved ones have lost their memories and their ability to function in the world…”

On “Valley Fever” and ticks infection, USA Today said: “Valley Fever is one of multiple diseases experts say are spreading in part because of climate change. They include a brain-eating amoeba… and several illnesses carried by ticks whose range is increasing… In about 5% of cases, the most extreme, the fungus finds its way into the bones, the brain or the skin…”

CURE FROM THE BIBLE: If, as USA Today reported, these diseases came about because of global warming and climate change, the only logical cure for anyone of them would be fighting off and stopping these natural calamities. But then, given the failure of world governments to fight and stop global warming, it seems likely that there could be no cure to those illnesses, correct?

My take is that, there is a cure, but only if we consider that global warming and the serious illnesses of man generated by them, were actually predicted to happen by the Bible, particularly in its Deuteronomy 28:15, 22-24, 29, 58-61. In these verses, the Bible is saying that global warming and serious diseases will come, and kill and destroy, when people no longer listen to God and no longer obey His commands.

Without doubt, therefore, we can stop global warming and these diseases by following the Bible. The fact is that, if we listen to God and obey Him all over again, we are in effect addressing the root cause of these natural calamities, which is man’s greed for money. Listening to God and obeying Him will make many people righteous once again and eliminate greed, which will stop them from committing further destructive acts against the environment.
