What RP needs is to be “born of God”

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “…Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God---children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God…” (John 1:12-13, the Holy Bible).

READER’S REACTION: PORK HAS A “REDEEMING VALUE”: “The issues concerning PDAF (priority development assistance fund, or pork barrel), CI (congressional initiative) and DAP (disbursement acceleration program), though tragic, nevertheless have a redeeming value for us as a nation, if the whole truth is exposed, justice is meted out appropriately swift, all those who are benefitted are jailed, and ill-gotten wealth forfeited back to government.

“Tall dream? With God’s mercy and consent, a rebirth is possible…” This came from Beatriz Gonzales, a regular reader of the online Facebook version of this column and who regularly sends to me good reactions on what we are writing here. She made this reaction in connection with our column entitled “Will Jinggoy and Bong return?”

WHAT RP NEEDS IS TO BE “BORN OF GOD”: My reaction: “Salamat sa Diyos sa Ngalan Ni Jesus (Thank God in the name of Jesus), Beatriz Gonzales. We do not need a `rebirth’. What we, as a nation, need is to be `born of God’. Rebirth will only result in the `rebirth’ of the same corruption, graft and filth among many people.

“Consequently, even if they are `born again’ a million times, it will not give rise to any change---for people will always be people, who have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), and who, as God saw in Genesis 6:5-7, were basically black-hearted and evil, leading Him to regret creating them, moving Him to kill all of them with the flood during Noah's time.

“What we need is to be `born of God’, not to be `born again’. For if we are born of God, we are born of the Spirit, we are born from above, turning us into children of God.”

ACCEPTING AND HAVING FAITH IN JESUS: How is a man “born of God” and is given the right to become a “child of God”? John 1:12-13, in relation to John 1:11, 14, and Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 9:6, and Matthew 1:18-25, gives the answer: he must accept and have faith in Jesus as God and Savior.

Acceptance of Jesus and having faith on Him as God and Savior is not as simple as it appears, as shown by the sorry example of many in the world who call themselves Born Again Christians and yet are unable to explain why they say Jesus is God and Savior. If a Born Again Christian cannot even justify Jesus as God and Savior, he is not a real Christian, but a pseudo-believer who will still be thrown in the fires of hell.

HAVE YOU BEEN “BORN OF GOD”? It is only when a believer is able to justify Jesus as God and Savior that he will learn the truth that Jesus said will set everyone free. It is only then and only then that the believer is truly “born of God”, is born in, and starts to be guided by, the Spirit, making him one with Jesus---in body, blood and Spirit.

It is then that he unites with Jesus, and becomes a new creation where the old self has gone and the new has come, becoming a part of His body, with His blood running through his veins (making him a “blood kin” of Jesus), and becoming a part of His Spirit, which is in each and everyone who is transformed as a “child of God”. Are you now a “child of God”? Have you been “born of God”?
