In Bethlehem, His first coming was witnessed by relatively few people. On His Second Advent  Jesus returns “with power and great glory , “ and all nations will witness it. On His Second Coming  Jesus will dwell and rule in righteousness with men on earth a thousand years.

Scriptures describe many events that will occur before the Second Coming .It reveals the falling away from the truth. 2 Timothy 4:3-4 reads: “For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching  ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths.

There will be a time of war, wickedness and natural disasters. (See Matthew 24:6-7); and 2 Timothy 3:1-6); Wonders in the heavens and on the earth will occur. The Bible, (Acts 2:19-20) reads: “And I will cause wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below – blood and fire and clouds of smoke. The sun will become dark, and the moon will turn blood red before the great and glorious day of the Lord arrives. (Also on Joel 2:29-31)

Our faith must not be difficult to detect when Christ comes. The Body of Believers (The Church) are supposed to look and act if we are to be acceptable to Him. We must be doing His work and we must be living His teaching. He must recognize us quickly and easily as truly being members of His body.

When He returns and we say we are believers, then we had surely better be demonstrating it. Yes, in that great final hour the shepherd knows His sheep. They recognized His voice and hear when He calls. But remember, the Lord is not your shepherd – until the shepherd is your Lord.

The Savior has returned to heaven in all glory, He has prayed. “Father, give back to me the glory I had with you before the world began” (John 17:5), and God did that. Psalm 110 talks about when our Lord

Jesus Christ returned to heaven to Glory and was enthroned at the right hand of the majesty on high.

The apostles’ Creed declared Christ will soon come to judge the living and the dead according to their deeds and the desires of their hearts. In that great day we must be known as His true followers in deed, as well as in word. Christ will return in the air for His own.

He promised His disciples: “I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you. I will come again and receive you to myself; so that where I am, there you may be also (John 14:2-3). This event is described in 1 Thessalonians 4: vv.16-17. It reads: “The Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.”

From the time of Peter on the day of Pentecost, all that the Body of Christ, “the church”, do- missionary and charitable work, teaching the gospel, forming communities and living Christlike lives-prepares us and others for eternal life and for the Lord’s Second Coming. Are we ready when Christ will return to earth in Glory?
