LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS:“… Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God (for) if you ever forget the Lord your God… I testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed…” (Deuteronomy 8:11, 19, the Holy Bible).
BINAY’S “NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH POLITICS” SCARY: Vice President Jejomar Binay’s “nothing is impossible with politics”—which was the answer he gave when queried on the possibility of either Mar Roxas, secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, or Sen. Francis Escudero running as his vice presidential candidate in 2016—is greatly scary to me.
Why? Simply because that statement is in complete disagreement with what the Bible in Luke 1:37 is saying, that it is only with God that nothing is ever impossible. Indeed, it is only with God that everything is possible, because only He has the power to make everything possible.
This is true in all areas of life, and more so in politics. It is God’s will that will prevail, even if sometimes it appears that God’s will is incomprehensible, unpalatable, or unacceptable, to many. Things and events happen, not because anyone willed them to happen, but only because God allowed them to happen.
BOASTING ABOUT PLANS RESULTS IN FAILURES: Indeed, men may plan and maneuver so that things may happen according to what they want. But many a time, their plans and maneuvers all amount to nothing, because God, not having been consulted with those plans and maneuvers in the first place, did not allow the plans and maneuvers to succeed.
In James 4:13-16 of the Bible, for instance, there is a warning against people who boast about what they want to do and about what they want to achieve. This part of the Bible says: “Now listen, you who say, `Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.’ “Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, `If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that’. As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil…” -ooo- FORGETTING GOD WILL DESTROY US: The lesson here is that, we must endeavor to recognize God’s sovereignty over us in everything we do, to enable us to be victorious. In Proverbs 3:6 of the Bible, we are told that in all our ways we must acknowledge Him, and He will make our paths straight. In Deuteronomy 8:18, we are told to remember God after we have become successful and have amassed wealth, for it was God who gave us the ability to acquire our riches in the first place. We are told to reject the thought that it was because of our intelligence, of our own strength and power, that we succeeded. If we forget God and think that it was because of our hands that we became rich, He will become angry with us. He would then have no second thoughts about destroying us, just as He destroyed all the other peoples He earlier blessed and inspired. Then, our reliance on ourselves would be put to shame, and would even cause our own downfall.
