WHAT to expect from their SOCAs

(BY: JUN FELICIANO) (Words of Enlightenment)

THE second coming of the Son is already a done deal— without our knowing it. Similarly, it happened when the begotten Son Jesus Christ came unto this world more than 2,000 years ago, when the Jews themselves, didn’t believe he was the One(Savior) they were waiting for as their Savior, too.

SIGNS of the Apocalypse, right now, can very well attest of the 2nd coming.

EVEN the Scriptures can bear us out: “When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes.” (Matthew 24: 37-39). Email:

The SOCA( State Of the City Address) to be mainly delivered by our top 4 city officials, is scheduled on January 27(Tuesday) that’ll usher in the fresh start of both our city’s executive and legislative branches  for Year 2015.

AND, what do we expect they’ll largely highlight in their respective Addresses?

WHEN asked, how hopeful our folk here that all of our “Big 4” here, will principally single out as their topmost priorities the following major concerns: Peace & Order; Cleanliness & Sanitation; Opening of new roads; Traffic congestion; Full computerization of city gov’t offices; Increase in burial expenses for the poor; More livelihood programs and More job opportunities.

I ASKED more on the need to open new roads in our city, from City Engr.

Luis Vicente Despalo to answer the clamor of the public on this particular issue, and his reply was that our city gov’t has allocated some P 50 million solely for the purchase of roads’ right-of-way, “as we don’t expect anymore the donations of lands nowadays. The city has to buy ( all these roads’ right-of-way).”

ENGR. Despalo said the city’s long plan for the opening of new roads will definitely kick off this year 2015, as there’s already the ready budget purportedly for its implementation.

MANY sectors here have expressed wary over the potential prospect for a number of giant malls to rise in our city in the immediate future, hence the dire need for the creation of new roads.

THERE’s now the KCC on Gov. Camins Ave. and soon to emerge is City Mall on Don Alfaro Rd., Brgy. Tetuan. These 2 giant malls, according to our sectors here, will certainly draw a huge influx of people out for their shopping sprees right in here that’s to them, much closer in distance compared to their former shopping hubs like the cities of Cagayan de Oro, Davao and even Cebu.

ONE of the first targeted right-of-ways for the city’s opening of a new road is Gov. Camins Ave. that’ll link its road direct towards Brgy. Sta. Maria, cutting right through the Pastoral Center’s property.

THIS was bared by no less City Engr. Despalo to this corner on Monday.

C ansina, keda caro’ ya el properiedad lli na Sta. Maria area, just at the back of the Pastoral House.

THIS is the beauty in being not greedy donating just enough piece of lot for a right-of-way, as the value of our real properties will surely go up, tremendously fast.

BUT, if wait for our LGU to buy those lots for a right-of-way, as their donations seem impossible to expect these days, how sluggish could be the progress and development to happen in an area like ours.

NO matter how we try to take off and turn things around here, if greed, envy and jealousy still reign in us, no way can we ever achieve the 3 P’s( Peace, Progress and Prosperity). Not, for a moment in time, at all.(30)
