(BY: ATTY. BATAS MAURICIO) LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him… Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts… their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones… Men committed shameful acts with other men… (Romans 1:21, 24, 26-27, the Holy Bible).
PARIS KILLINGS: SENSELESS, USELESS: The Paris, France attack on a satirical magazine in the morning of Wednesday, January 07, 2015, not only killed 12 people, including the magazine’s editor and other staff members. It showed the totall7 vulnerable status of mediamen worldwide, who could be murdered or physically assaulted at will by those who are hurt by what they publish.
Mediamen in the Philippines know that, and, I would venture to say, all mediamen in the world know that, too. Yet, this vulnerability has not deterred other journalists from picking up the pieces and continuing the work of their murdered colleagues.
Mediamen everywhere in fact know that being killed is part and parcel of their profession, and they derive comfort from the thought that though they maybe eliminated in connection with their work, others would come after them, and pursue the crusade that they have started. It is in this sense that killing those journalists in Paris—or anywhere else in the world—is really useless and senseless!
OFWs ABROAD CAN FILE ANNULMENT IN RP: Marcy M. (not her real name) is a Filipina who is working in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia who seems to have given up on the womanizing of her husband in the Philippines, even in the presence of their children. She is asking if, even while she is in Riyadh, could she file an action to nullify her marriage with him in the country?
The answer is yes. A Filipino national, male or female, who is working abroad can file a case with Philippine courts for the annulment of his or her marriage with the spouse who is here in the Philippines. The right of a Filipino spouse to file the case against his or her spouse is not curtailed simply because he or she is out of the country.
What is required by the law is that, the Filipino who is abroad must be able to sign the complaint for annulment and have it notarized by Filipino consular officials abroad, particularly in the place in the foreign country where he or she is working or residing. Once that complaint is signed and notarized abroad, it can then be sent back for filing before our Regional Trial Courts.
AIDS, A DISEASE PREDICTED BY THE BIBLE: I am amused by the directive of Malacanang to the Department of Health to explain why cases of HIV-AIDS keep on increasing in the country. With due respect, the DOH has nothing to explain, especially because in giving the directive, Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda already absolved the health department of any liability, by saying that “the DOH is not being remiss in the campaign against AIDS.”
Malacanang’s directive is therefore nothing but a farce, or a “moro-moro”, perhaps in an effort to seek increased funding for AIDS projects. But the Aquino government must understand one thing in the fight against AIDS, especially the kind that hits men having sex with other men. AIDS is a curse predicted by the Bible, so the cure must be based on the Bible, too.
In Romans 1:18-32 of the Bible, men having sex with other men (and women having sex with other women) had already been foretold as a result of man no longer believing in God. The Bible says the penalty for this malady is death. The Aquino government, if it wants to succeed in its fight against AIDS, must bring back our people to God.
