(BY: REV. BERLIE G. YAP) Barangay eMedia is starting to break the local lead on TV and radio authority here in Zamboanga. Obviously, because of its edge—quick, strong and ready reporters for dispatch in any situation, is ahead of other TV and radio outfits in Zamboanga.
The public starts to also gain its trust as the authority in accurate and freshest news delivery. Many government and private offices/agencies had as well partnered Barangay eMedia in the past months as their official media outfit to their significant events.
However, Barangay eMedia’s face is not just current affairs. It also has an FM music that entertains. The coming back of Totoy Bato which started to air on Thursday, January 7, is expected to garner a significant chunk of audience share in the City.
Totoy Bato is the legendary gay DJ on the ‘90’s. Many loved his presentation and format. His ad lib always relieved mothers, house-helps, laundrywomen, cooks, drivers, and many others their stress on morning times when he go on-board. Days changed and Totoy Bato also underwent transition until his program was replaced with other new innovations came the new century, year 2000.
However, his name left a trademark to the subconscious of that generation. No wonder when he re-appeared back in Barangay eMedia his avid fans on the 90’s were shocked and happy. One of them wished that hope Totoy Bato’s program won’t only be temporary but to stay.
Totoy Bato is paired with DJ eh-Dong. They air their funny time slot at 9am-12nn, Mondays through Fridays. The duo is unstoppable in their hilarious stories and unending jokes. Unlike to other station’s programming, Totoy Bato doesn’t use green jokes, he rather stresses certain life-application values in between their ad lib.
One of Barangay eMedia’s host/reporter, partner Philip Abuy, on Thursday passed an eatery to take his lunch. He noticed that the lady servers, its cook and a number of customers laughed carelessly upon his entry to the place. When he sat down he found out that the scenario was so, because they were actually listening to the maiden program of Totoy Bato.
Filipinos in their times of pains and hardships are easy to be comforted with jokes, that is why they stand strong even on trials which other nationals may not be able to stand. To name a few were the Typhoon Yolanda and the siege of Zamboanga. Humor syndrome is congenital to the Filipinos. It’s a hardwire thing in their make-up, thus, they are unbeatable in many areas. Ask Caucasian tourists who were witnesses of our past ordeals.
Again, the come-back of Totoy Bato is a very positive asset of the entertainment in the local FM music. If you are a youth who do not know him, try to hear him personally and DJ ehDong! It’s one of the Barangay eMedia’s finery as introduced on the entry of 2015. And of course you will also love their song selections.
12nn-1PM is the time-slot of the 80’s and 90’s revivals hosted by another FM music legendary personality, DJ Little Giant as the Boy Next-door. His cute presentations fall many mothers, ladies, girls and also guys in love to his lunch program. Though during the Christmas season, Little Giant took a vacation because he attended other important matters related to his work.
1-3PM DJ GIL comes and entertains everyone with his award-winning classics. His cold and whole golden voice is irresistible. Presumably, many intending Zamboangueños to take their siesta cannot anymore succumb because they will surely be allured to hear wonderful quotes and counsels of love to DJ GIL.
Everyone is free to text or call Barangay eMedia for greetings, song requests and etc. during the above programs mentioned. The numbers are below, and never hesitate to get us in touch because we will entertain you with our best.
Another unique program presentation of Barangay eMedia is the “gear-change” Sunday Difference of Mr. NiceGuy. He plays inspiration songs and attacks interesting sharing in between, on Sundays. He does at 8-10:30AM for the morning edition and 12nn-3PM for the afternoon edition.
If you’re a fan to Don Moen and the Hillsongs, the program is for you. It ain’t a religious slot but a cool wholesome format which can help anybody re-align his life’s character through the values formation presented in the program.
“Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.” (Isa. 43:19, NIV)
