(BY: ATTY. BATAS MAURICIO) LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “…The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons…” (1 Timothy 4:1, the Holy Bible).
FOOLING THE PEOPLE ABOUT MINDANAO CLASHES: Somebody is trying to fool Filipinos once again, with all the headlines claiming that the Abu Sayyaf is once more “on the run”, allegedly after 24 of its members having been reportedly killed in skirmishes in Sulu. Indeed, who will believe these headlines which, though repeatedly trumpeted many times in the past, proved to be utter lies and falsities?
As far back as I can remember, every time somebody wanted to do something in Mindanao, for one reason or another (or, maybe more appropriately, for one or more gains for themselves or their groups), would always cause headlines and news stories to crow that terror groups, such as the Abu Sayyaf, are losing, are on the run, and its members already decimated and killed.
Yet, the Abu Sayyaf is still there, the terror groups are still there, kidnapping and other lawless acts are still there, up to this very minute. So, who are the news managers fooling with their recent announcements of Abu Sayyaf retreating and running? Come on, do something better at fooling the people this time, will you?
AQUINO’S PEACE EFFORTS MEAN MORE WARS: The same thing is true with the peace efforts of the Aquino government in Mindanao. Just like the peace efforts of past administrations—except perhaps the administration of former President and now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada—Aquino’s search for peace before his term ends in 2016 is not giving rise to peace, but to more wars.
Even now that Aquino and his loyal subalterns are pulling heaven and earth together in their desire to pass the Bangsamoro Basic Law and thereby establish peace in Mindanao, the undeniable truth is that this law, and Aquino’s peace agreement with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, are causing more bitter fighting and more division in Southern Philippines.
Again, let me repeat myself: as long as Aquino’s peace strategy involves talking to only one group (even if that groups claims to be the biggest armed group in the region today), the other groups which have been left out of the pie, so to speak, will have no qualms pursuing their own wars against the next government. Aquino’s peace agreement will be no peace agreement, and actually would mean more wars, after all.
MANY FILIPINOS HAVE BECOME GODLESS, AND FOLLOWERS OF THE DEVIL: The news about a Filipina running a child pornography syndicate in the Philippines which, a newspaper story said, “uses girls ages 1 to 12 years who are not only forced to perform sexual acts but are also tortured to death” validates what we have been saying here all along: many Filipinos have become so godless as to enable them to do evil acts.
While our countrymen still profess to believe in Christianity, they have actually ceased being true Christians, because they no longer care to read the Christian Bible, and no longer obey Jesus as their God and Savior. The prophecy of the Bible, in its 1 Timothy 4:1, that people will no longer be obeying sound doctrines but would instead follow the teachings of the devil, has become a stark reality among Filipinos.
Whose fault is this phenomenon? The church leaders, who refused to teach what the Bible really teachers, but have contented themselves with their own human teachings? The families and parents who no longer instill fear and love of God to their children? Or, us, ourselves, because we no longer read the Bible and no longer obey God? Indeed, we are all bound for destruction, even in the life hereafter!
