Earth Hour barks at the wrong tree

(BY: ATTY. BATAS MAURICIO) LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “…However, if you do not obey the Lord your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come on you and overtake you…” (Deuteronomy 28:15, the Holy Bible).

EARTH HOUR PHILIPPINES BARKS AT THE WRONG TREE:I certainly cannot applaud and clap my hands at the efforts of Earth Hour Philippines, now reiterated by Secretary Herminio Coloma of the Office of the President Communications Group, to fight off global warming and climate change by turning off all lights for one hour from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015.

This is barking at the wrong tree, so to speak, and will not produce anything substantial, and, if the objective is simply to make noise about combatting global warming and climate change, it is certainly going to be a very small and insignificant noise when compared to the unabated environmental  destruction that is happening worldwide for quite some time now.

If we really want to produce significant gains in battling global warming and climate change, there is only one way of doing it, and it is something that we must do real soon. This particular way requires knowing the spiritual angle of this phenomenon, and then urgently utilizing the prescription against death and destruction from global warming from this spiritual angle.

EXPLORING SPIRITUAL ANGLE OF GLOBAL WARMING: Not exploring the spiritual angle of global warming and climate change could only yield more deadly and catastrophic results, which, even now, we are already witnessing helplessly around the world. While there is still time, we must act decisively, if we wish to avoid the extermination of the planet we call Earth and only home.

What is this spiritual angle and prescription against global warming and climate change? It is the fact that extreme temperatures and other weather aberrations have been warned to happen by the Word of God, the Holy Bible, particularly in its Deuteronomy 28:22-24.

These verses of the Bible are saying God will send scorching heat and drought, and turn the sky into a heated bronze and the ground where we are standing as hard as iron, complete with dust storms. These verses are firm that all of these catastrophes will come and cause not only discomfort, but will kill all of mankind.

THE CHOICE IS OURS: TO LIVE OR TO DIE: It would be very easy dismissing these Biblical truths by saying things like, God is a loving God and so would not permit these curses to come upon His people, or the Bible cannot be relied upon on the issue of global warming and climate change because it was written when there was no such weather phenomenon yet.

The undeniable fact however is that, true to what the Bible had warned, these curses are now evidently happening almost everywhere in the world. The occurrence of these calamities, exactly in the manner that the Bible described them to happen, proves beyond doubt the accuracy and authenticity of these prophecies.

We can turn a deaf ear and a blind eye to these indubitable proofs, and risk the future of the entire human race, or we can exercise caution and do what the Bible is saying as the antidote to global warming and climate change, particularly those that are contained in Deuteronomy 28:15 and Matthew 7:24-47, which contains the warnings of Jesus, our God and Savior. The choice is ours to make. We can chose life, or we can choose death.
