(Enlightenment—Passage of the Day)
DON’T fear our enemies who can only kill the body but not the soul. Fear the One who can kill both the body and the soul, as well.
“And, fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul, but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” (Matthew 10: 28). Email: email@example.com
Thus, seemed to stress by our City Legal Officer Atty. Jesus Carbon, Jr. in last Monday’s weekly CH news briefing when learned that a supposed top MNLF source is willing to help the city gov’t of Zamboanga to recover the ARMM property located in Brgy. Cabatangan this city, as long as it drops its case versus the MNLF armed group in connection with the infamous “Zamboanga Siege” that triggered in September of 2013.
“We cannot do that. We’ll continue our case against them,” the former judge further emphasized.
ZC has remained steadfast on its case despite under pressure to yield to the strong desire of the national gov’t to reconsider the same— that’s to have it watered-down in a bid to lower the sentences of all the accused—hence, seek for their subsequent early release from their detention cells, already three years more or less.
The local gov’t of ZC appears unfazed by reports that the MNLF has the strong support of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte who’s known to have offered the olive branch for peace to all the enemies of the state— to include both secessionist groups of the MNLF and MILF for the sake of lasting peace in Mindanao.
THE disgruntled MNLF armed band, numbering about 400, on the supposed prodding of its overall Chieftain Nurulaji “Nur” Misuari, attacked ZC in September 9 of 2013—killing hundreds of people when heavy fighting broke out as the gov’t troops pursued them, and ultimately overpowered their forces.
THE rebels briefly overran six urban villages as they turned hundreds of their hostages into human shields.
ROUGHLY, 300 of them were either arrested or waved their white flag to give up their fight amid the heavy toll in terms of areas devastated and lives lost.
AFTER its smoke cleared, about 200 people laid dead— to include scores of innocent civilians, amongst them were young kids.
THOSE who fell into the hands of the authorities have been detained and currently under incarceration in Taguig prison camp, Rizal Province—facing multiple charges for rebellion and violations of Rep. Act 9851(to include their crimes against International Humanitarian Law).
A total of 288 suspected MNLF attackers—to include their supposed mastermind (Nur Misuari) are currently accused of said crimes.
BUT, forty two (42) of their comrade-in-arms were later released for insufficiency of evidence.
MISUARI, Carbon said, again sought approval from Malacañang for travel anew to the Middle East last February— particularly a trip for Saudi Arabia where its highly influential Organization of Islamic Countries(OIC) is based. Misuari is the only acknowledged Bangsamoro leader from the known secessionist groups in Southern Philippines, who’s given the rare status as an Observer by the OIC.
MISUARI’s spat with hisrival MILFgroup came solidly to the fore when he strongly denounced the latter while given the privilege to say his piece by Pres. Duterte when invited to Malacañang late last year.
AND, this certainly serves as another major stumbling block to Pres. Du30’s peace initiative here in Mindanao.
COUPLED with ZC’s uncompromising principle to fight to the last, no matter what— with regards to the Sept. 9, 2013 “Zamboanga Siege” issue, Digong will absolutely find it tougher to crack a nut than he ever thought, before. (By Jun Feliciano) (30)
