I doff my hat to Col. Asdai!

(Enlightenment ---Passage of the Day)

IT’S very difficult to make faithless people believe about the Truth of our spiritual life.  Listen to this verse: “If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.”(Luke 16: 31) Email:

HE didn’t rise from the ranks, but via the lateral entry.

POLICE Supt. Nonito Asdai joined the PNP in l995, and was once assigned in the city under then ZCPO Director (now retired) S/Supt. Edwin Soledad in his early years in the PNP.

BECAUSE of his highly exemplary record in the PNP, and being a criminology graduate, he was promoted to police inspector in 2004.

HIS first stint as police chief, was in Gutalac-- a notorious NPA-infested country in Zamboanga del Norte. Asdai was also assigned in the ARMM, as police chief in the town of Sumisip, Basilan, a renowned Abu Sayaff country. Then, came La Libertad, another NPA-infested area in Zamboanga del Norte( in Region-IX).

AFTER La Libertad, Asdai was named as police chief of the towns of Baliguian (2006-2007); Sirawai (2008); Sibuco (2009); and as deputy police chief of Dapitan City-- all in the province of Zamboanga del Norte.

THEN, came his return to ZC (in 2011) to serve as police chief of police station 11 based initially in Sacol Island that falls under the jurisdiction of ZCPO.

UNDER Asdai, Sacol’s raped mangrove forests have been massively rehabilitated.

ASDAI’s most remarkable accomplishment came sometime in 2014 when he and his crack team rescued alive a kidnapped 2-year old local child who was brought to Patikul, Sulu by the suspected KFR band.

DESPITE all odds facing him and his rescue team, they managed to penetrate the kidnappers’ lair in Patikul, and succeeded to rescue the child unharmed sans any bloodshed, at all.

“It was all pure guts on our part. We resorted to psy-war to win over them,” Col.Asdai recounted.

FOR his heroic feat, Col. Asdai was bestowed the Kadakilaan (heroism) Award--  highest award given by the PNP to a police officer in the entire Region-9 that year.

To Col. Asdai, may your kind increase in the PNP.

I salute you, Colonel! (By Jun Feliciano) (30)
