(Enlightenment—Passage of the Day)

JOHN the Baptist, was humble enough to admit he was nothing compared to the Jesus who came next to him during the Jewish era. “I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose; he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire.” (Luke 3: 16). PRESIDENT Rodrigo RoaDuterte has declared an all-out- vs. 2 major potent enemies of the state: the NPA—the armed wing of the CCP/NDF communist group and the dreaded extremist Abu Sayyaf Group whose armed faction is indulged in Kidnap-For-Ransom(KFR) activities in Southern Philippines.

The New People’sArmy(NPA) is the latest pain in-the-neck of our tough-talking President from Mindanao. The NPA guerillas are wreaking havoc in the countryside, particularly in the Northern Mindanao region where latest caper resulted in the killing of 4 policemen assigned in its far-flung areas.

The communist insurgents resumed their hostilities versus the gov’t troops when their peace talks with the GRP negotiating peace panel suffered certain hitches when they touched on scores of non-negotiable issues that are contrary to our constitution.

However, leaders from both sides remain optimistic that  Pres. Duterte’s peace initiative for Mindanao will gain grounds in the near future as both sides aren’t giving up their efforts to pursue a genuine solution for lasting peace in the entire Southern Philippines.

The Du30 government is hell-bent to eradicate the insurgency problem in the whole Mindanao region.

In the most recent news updates, heavy casualties-- especially on the side of the Abu Sayaffs, have been reported as gov’t forces relentlessly unleash theirvigorous  offensive operations against the radical group in Sulu and Basilan, even as they launched their latest KFR activity when they seized a school teacher last weekend somewhere in the suburban areas of Jolo, Sulu.

The ASG has claimed responsibility in the kidnapping spree of foreigners lately here in the South to exact a hefty sum of ransom money from relatives of their kidnap victims.

IF their next-of-kin can’t come up with their ransom demand, the dreaded KFR group has the propensity to resort to decapitating their captives. Their snatched hostages are believed holed out in their lairs hardly can be traced by the pursuing troops in their known stronghold somewhere in the jungles of the Sulu Archipelago, henceforth, resulting to horrendous collateral damages  when the AFP launches its air and sea massive shelling and bombardments in a bid to flush them out.

What a waste of everything in a war that has been going on for decades with neither sides winning.

I can only hope and pray to God that this senseless war will one day come to an end.

AND, if the Lord hears our prayers, for sure, instead of a curse, blessings will shower upon our nation. But, are our prayers being heard? In most cases, they just go in vain. So, God will listen to us, our prayers should come from the heart for God sees only the heart to find out its sincerity to him.

Unheard prayers mean they can even be a mockery in the sight of God, for they’re, in most probability, opposed to the will of God. Listen to what our Lord Jesus Christ warns us, “ When ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do, for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.” (Matthew 6: 7).
