One of the notable discussions which the duo hosts, partners GIL Climaco and Rey Bayona Bayoging (RBB), tackled yesterday—March 13, on their morning primetime program was the recent denial of the LTFRB, in a Barangay eMedia’s exclusive interview last week, that they did not receive any invitation with regards to the series of meetings which the City Hall called for all the stakeholders, concerning to the proposed and upcoming new traffic schemes in the City, which to take effect tomorrow already, March 15.
The LTFRB said that they never received any communication or even a single invitation from the City Hall, in connection with this said scheme. Such completely surprised the duo hosts partners GIL and RBB yesterday morning, simply because of the clear words, last Friday, of PC/Insp. Albert Sta. Teresa, He said that he did not see any LTFRB representative in their series of meetings recently. And such implied that the rest are in limbo, why the latter were not around.
The presumption then was that LTFRB was not interested or they cared less. But things suddenly changed when the latter spoke, in our exclusive interview, that they were not formally invited, and that they only learnt about the proposed scheme through the news. Thus, they did not join or showed up in any meeting. Well, it is a simple logic—how could they be around in any official meeting, where in the very first place they never know about it!
During the Comversa, Quosa Ba program, of partners JV Faustino and GM Belsie Agustin, somebody from the City Hall, maybe an employee, texted and explained that probably the needed invitation was not made because accordingly, by experience, when any traffic rerouting scheme is implemented, by the City Hall, and when its nature is only temporary, usually the LTFRB is not anymore informed.
Albeit, when partners JV and GM Belsie reviewed Barangay eMedia’s interview with the LTFRB, the latter emphatically said that whether in any temporary or permanent change of traffic routes, the local government ought to really inform them. Now, along the two succeeding TV/radio programs of Barangay eMedia, a number of our field reporters did try to ask the City Hall about this particular issue.
Partner Gino Franco Torres was in the City Hall’s regular presscon yesterday morning. The City Administrator said that the intervention of the LTFRB is not anymore necessary, in the new and experimental traffic scheme; and its office has already talked personally with the agency’s officer-in-charge (OIC). Accordingly, the latter is amenable then to the said proposed scheme. Anyways, we will keep you abreast for whatever development along.
For sure, there shall be inevitable confusion or even headaches by our motorists, who may pass in the long stretches of the San Jose Road and the Baliwasan Seaside highway, all through the RT Lim Boulevard. Clearly, the first to be affected in the one way traffic scheme shall be the very residents along these said highways.
For them in either going to work(school and to the market) or coming back home, each time their travels will be LITERALLY longer. In fact, students will also be affected then, in the process. Fortunately though in the coming couple of weeks classes will also already be over. Thus, the volume of motorists along these particular highways will recede then.
Baranggay eMedia had interviewed graduate and law students in WMSU. Some of them said that they may just walk to downtown, after their 8 or 9 o’clock classes—that if the one way traffic may continue then 24/7. They said further, as in a form of a joke, that exercise is after all good for their bodies. On the other hand, their point is also correct, they see the new adjustments in a positive way.
Besides, the local government will endeavor this new approach, to actually ease the worse and soring problem of our traffic congestions in the City. With the new constructions of the Primewater, along the San Jose Rd., such has obviously hampered more the traffic to and fro the West Coast. Hence, by all means, it has to be addressed, and the said new traffic scheme is the direct answer.
“A wise son hears his father’s instruction, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke. From the fruit of his mouth a man eats what is good, but the desire of the treacherous is for violence. Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin. The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.” (Prov. 13:1-4, ESV)
