When Dreams to Become Real?

PDFPrintE-mail

Obviously, the duo hosts partners GIL Climaco and Rey Bayona Bayoging (RBB) are also very anxious to see the good dreams of Zamboanga City to indeed become a reality, and emphatically not in the never land or in impossible realm, but indeed literally and any time soon. Many agreed to what they opined yesterday morning—May 1, that La Bella is already all due to her supposed promotions, and with firm belief, such hangs in the balance to the full determination and initiative of our local leaders.

Partner RBB pointed the recent catapult acceleration of the cities of Bacolod and Ilo-Ilo, because their local leaders have the political will to wade and challenge the common, thus they were able to break-through the old way and old cycle towards a new beginning of their place. So, the results are the economic boom and the opening of greater opportunities in their local government units (LGUs).

Particularly Bacolod City, when their City Council unitedly decided to move their City Hall to some 12 kilometers from the town proper, suddenly things changed—in a quantum leap, to their place. And such change did also create a domino effect to the City’s economy, labor and employment, the social status of the people and etc.

Their new City Hall expanded as well the minds or the plain perspective of the people. In other words, their previous city congestions had somehow indirectly constricted the vision of their leaders and, in general, the entire Bacolodnons. Now, when their seat of power was moved, everyone became visionaries. The effects: more local business people and also outside investors felt soon the obvious potential of Bacolod City, thus they built then new malls, shops and more commercial complex, close to their City Hall.

Such gave more works to the locals, and eventually changed also their economic lives. Then, what followed next is the transformation to some of the sugar cane plantation in the place, to become new tourist spots anddestinations—they added more blessings to the City. As they say, Bacolod used to live mostly by the income of the sugar cane, but not anymore this time. Apparently, the new influx of touristsin Bacolod has shownthe true increase of the City into a new dimension.

The above litany was presented by partner RBB, and of course was also duly seconded by partner GIL yesterday morning, during their primetime TV/radio program. The former was the External Vice-President of RMN, for years. Thus, he had crisscrossed the Panay area and the rest, in more or less than 10 years. Such previous and up-close presence of partner RBB in the place gave him the keen observation to how Bacolod and Ilo-Ilo transformed very fast.

Now, the very point of partners GIL and RBB was: if Bacolod and Ilo-Ilo were able to do it in their places, Zamboanga City can do it as well here! Of course, by comparison Zamboanga City has a bigger money than to the two cities mentioned. In fact, we have millions in the bank, just laying totally dormant and only wait for any project to be built.

Funny though because while other cities speak of expansions, like Cagayan de Oro and Davao City, on their plans for infra projects to massive transport, Zamboanga City on the other hands is stuck to issues abouttraffic problems, traffic experiments, problem of waste disposal and etc. Whew! Clearly, La Bella has a lot of paces to make-up, just to be able to participate with the growth and opportunities which our country has, at the moment.

Well, we have the master development plan and etc. But the key question will always boil again to how fast our local leaders may execute them! One shot which partner RBB challenged to the former: to transfer then our City Hall, like Bacolod City, outside! Then, for sure we can readily address the problem of congestions in Zamboanga City, and also improve more the lives of our locals; the added surplus will be the domino effects of the business sector and etc.

Very nice to dream about these stuffs; and candidly, we so wish that they can happen then in our generation. One critique which Barangay eMedia wants to do, our leaders are quite slow and love to procrastinate, with regards to strong decisions. Barangay eMedia would just think sometimes if what our leaders are still waiting, so that they can be compelled then to move in a lighting speed, as to do those which are appropriate to an even faster growth of our City!

“Give ear, O my people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the words of my mouth! I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings from of old, things that we have heard and known, that our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done.” (Ps. 78:1-4, ESV)
