The Department of Justice (DOJ) started reinvestigating the multibillion-peso Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or pork barrel scam, allegedly involving Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon and Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV

Justice Sec. Vitaliano Aguirre II said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is building up cases from evidence submitted to his office by former Manila councilor and anti-pork barrel advocate Greco Belgica and other sources, as well as initial statements by accused pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles.

He added, “There are many documents submitted to us, but the ones from Greco Belgica would already suffice.

It was by former Makati vice mayor and Campaign for Public Accountability (CPA) convenor Bobby Brillante who called for the reinvestigation, saying the probe in the previous administration was selective that only targeted three opposition senators then: Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada and Ramon Bong Revilla.

Drilon and Trillanes were both with the administration and now with the opposition.

These human rights barrages sure do create an allergy of sort in Pres. Duterte. So hinted Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque in confirmation thereto as he expressed hopes that the Pres. will soon get over what he called his “allergy.”

Roque, a human rights advocate, said the President was committed to keep the government’s drug crackdown in accordance with the rule of law, and will never condone abusive cops.

He pointed out that it was even the President who ordered the arrest of the policemen involved in the controversial killing of teenager Kian delos Santos.  He said that while the President had promised to protect any policeman performing his duty, he will not do so for those who will abuse their authority and violate the law.

And if you recall, these negative public opinion polls seemingly get his goat, too, triggering the pullout of the Police from all anti-drugs responsibilities, leaving all to the undermanned PDEA.

Now, will this other survey result, though very minute also get in the nerves of Duterte, as fewer Filipinos believe Pres. Duterte can fulfill “most, if not all” of his promises, according to the third quarter survey of the Social Weather Stations (SWS).

Thirty-five percent of Filipino adults expect Duterte to fulfill “most, if not all,” of his promises; 57 percent answered “a few” and six percent said “none or almost none.”

The proportion of those expecting most, if not all, of Duterte’s promises to be fulfilled was 17 points below the 52 percent posted in March.

It was 63 percent when first asked in June 2016, and 56 percent in September 2016.

The 17-point decline in the national percentage of those saying Duterte can fulfill “all or nearly all” of his promises was due to double-digit declines in all areas.

Hopefully, the effect will cause positive mindset in him to motivate the re-employmdent of  the police in the company of PDEA to fight illegal drugs peddling. SS holds likely, the pullout of the police, which  has created a noticed void the drug campaign – in spite of PDEA’s tireless efforts - may have elicited the drop in people’s belief in his  capability.

Malaysian Amin Baco has replaced slain Abu Sayyaf commander Isnilon Hapilon as the designated emir of the Southeast Asia.

An Emir with no known caliphate sphere, it appears.

It appears so as it happens Baco is one of the few remaining stragglers in Marawi, rrestricted to an area, ready for the taking at any moment now.

Authorities, at this time, are verifying the total number of remaining stragglers in Marawi City since a lot of things have happened since Indonesian ISS compatriot Syahputra parted ways with what he claimed to be 39 remaining Maute fighters.

And surely, some of them may have already been killed, with very little prospects of some to have escaped.
