CITY STANDS PAT ON FIRECRACKER-BAN

That’s it.

The city stands pat on its strict firecracker-ban edict.

“There’s our strict firecracker-ban, and it remains asis,” City Hall’s top guns stressed.

DURING the weekly  press-briefing of our lady Mayor Beng Climaco-Salazar last Monday (Dec. 4), it was strongly reiterated by Asst. City Administrator Cesar Raz that the city continues to strictly implement its firecracker-ban, since the council enacted its stern measure a couple of years back—to help minimize, if not attain a zero-firecracker-related injuries and/or even deaths during the yuletide period capped by the annual New Year’s Eve celebration as the clock ticks 12 midnight.

Even those fireworks’ display that used to lit up our sky in the past when welcoming every New Year’s Eve, won’t be allowed, at all, CH resource persons during the press-con emphasized.

THAT’s what the majority here are praying for--as most of us, especially the old aficionados, saw its grave ill-effects in the past every time we welcomed our annual New Year’s Eve with a bang!: the rushing of our ambulance cars back and forth ---bringing all those firecrackers-related casualtiesto our different hospitals, and all the other emergency cases arising at the height of the New Year’s Eve revelry—to include victims of those defiant gun-totters described as “trigger-happy,” every time they welcome their New Year’s Eve in ZC.

SO, therefore, let us not break the peaceful tradition of city every time we welcome the New Year’s Eve in the city, since the council enacted a well-lauded measure banning the use of firecrackers and all types of pyrotechnics that took effect ( in 2014?), following the infamous  “Zamboanga Siege” in Sept. of 2013. The one who sponsored it was our young(Dist. 2) Councilor BG Guingona IV. Kudos to you, Councilor BG Barandino GuingonaIV!

IN FAIRNESS TO LIT-LIT, POSSIBLE SCENARIO LOOMS, FOLLOWING MARIANO’S OUSTER

From the looks of things, only one name appears to be under consideration of the Red Team as councilor replacement. He is JoselitoMacrohon.

Morally, Pencing sees that development, well on the level, for Macrohon ran under the LDP of Cong. Celso. L. Lobregat, having landed No. 9, a slot below the inning slate.

Ideally, however, this corner sees something wrong in the move.

While in fairness to Litlit as he is called – speaking in the context of the Lobregat tagline - his loyalty may truly be tried, but his mettle is yet untested.

Points here for the Red Team to ponder on.

Since suspectedly having lost Charlie earlier in an apparent quid pro quo deal with the yellows, none of the Reds measured up to the likes of lawyers Sang Jimenez, Kim Elago and OmengAgan.

Therefore, considering that a check with the DILG shows, with the axing of Charlie Mariano, the number nine elected candidate in the last polls, is not a compulsory act - the replacement modem must not be limited to that false thinking - considering further that the vacancy created is not Mariano’s but Marxander Jaime Cabato’s,  who automatically rose from No. 8 to no. 7.

Ergo, the choice must be expanded to include even non-candidates in 2016.

And that replacement must be one with proven debating skills to match the yellows’ front liners.

Pencing has one or two in mind, but not having their consent, I will keep my piece.

Suffice it to say, if Lobregat wants an ally, he takes my advice. I repeat: His choice must be expanded to include even non-candidates in 2016.

And that replacement must be one with proven debating skills to match the yellows’ front liners. (By Jun Feliciano) (30)
