(Enlightenment—Passage of the Day)

Q.)What’s the stern warning of our Lord if we unduly judge others?

A.) “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you.” (Luke 6:37)  Email: jayfeliciano2@yahoo.com

EX- CITY DAD RIC BABAN, JR. LAID TO REST

My deepest condolence to the family of the late Atty. Ricardo Baban, Jr. The late Baban served as City Councilor in the 1990s for three consecutive terms. The late “Ric” as he’s fondly addressed by his intimate friends and loved ones, passed away sometime last week and was laid to rest at the Forest Lake only yesterday. Again, to his bereaved family, my profound condolences.

THEY’RE ON TRAVEL AGAIN!

Our city councilors will make their official travel, again! This time, they’ll all be heading to Dumaguete City to attend the annual Batang Pinoy sports-fest.

Some of them already left immediately after their weekly regular session last Tuesday morning was adjourned.

Except, perhaps, for one who manifested strongly his objection against their supposedly persistent out-of-town trips to the detriment of their numerous pending proposed ordinances and resolutions that have yet to be tackled.

Dist. 2 Councilor Kim Elago II stood up to send a strong statement to his colleagues in the august body that there’re yet a lot of proposed measures pending in their different council committees that have to be already looked into to avoid their backlogs. Elago expressed his grave concern over their supposed dillydallying stance on them. “Can’t we first tackle them to avoid their accumulation?” Elago asked the august body.

To dodge driving any wedge, the council decided to still go ahead with their regular session next week, just the same, but that they’ll hold it much early—at 8am instead at 9am, so they can catch up their flight for the Batang Pinoy sports hostilities.

“Can we do that? Can we wake up early for our eary morning session?” Asked its floor-leader Dist. 1 Councilor Cesar “Sang” Jimenez. They all nodded in the affirmative.

“There they go again! De pahguate lang siempre sila! Ta logra gayot sila na ila mga biaje, ke mas muchu junket lang man se di-ila mga trips,” a bitter critic of Mayor Beng Climaco-Salazar’s administration, expressed his utter disgust.
