PRRD TO EXPAND DOT MESS PROBE

AT this point, let’s shift to what PRRD stressed with empathy, to new DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat after congratulating her, “Ang gusto kolang, walang corruption (What I just like is no corruption).”

This is the very same issue that stinks really this country, and, indeed, the one that turns him(Du30) off.

The new DOT secretary addressed by the media circle in Metro Manila as just “Berna”, is described as young, pretty and well-dignified, having come from an illustrious political clan, with his dad in the person of former Sen. Alberto Romulo, and the great granddaughter of the late Ambassador Carlos P. Romulo, first Asian President of the United Nations back in the 1950s.

It’s now well known to all and sundry that Berna’s predecessor then DOT Sec. Wanda TulfoTeo was sacked by Pres. Duterte because of alleged graft and corruption that stemmed from that highly-controversial ad placement with a pretty huge amount to the tune of P60 million on the widely-viewed public affairs TV program, “Kilos Pronto” aired over state-owned PTV-4. To refresh what Digong vowed to accomplish during his campaign sorties across the nation for the May2016 presidential/local elections, his three major concernshe’d like to get rid of are: illegal drugs, crimes and corruption. And, he nailed the presidency via an overwhelming mandate--more than six million votes over his nearest rival Mar RoxasIII, its then administration bet, as the electorates rallied behind his imposing battle-cry to steer the nation away from illegal drugs, crimes, and make it a truly corruption-free country.

Scores of his own supposed diehard supporters during his campaign period who were offered juicy posts as payback under the Duterte administration, were axed as they failed to live up to his very same slogan or battle-cry. The latest, as we all know by now, was Sec. of DOT Wanda TulfoTeo, being the sister of the Tulfo brothers, considered the country’s most-feared two-fisted TV hosts, where the whopping P60 million worth of ads landed that drew flaks from their critics everywhere. This must have caused the distraught feelings of their predators out to get even with them.

But to PRRD, corruption, like illegal drugs and crimes, has no place at all under his watch, these days. They just have to go, no matter what.

Now, here’s what’s being hankered by the anti-corruption advocates. They urged Pres. Duterte to go deeper on the supposed thorough probe relative to the P60 million ad placement row.

“Why not go deeper on their ongoing P60 million ad placement probe that has enmeshed the DOT? Why not make it(probe) nationwide by expanding it down to its lowest echelon?”

What this corner gathered lately, their BACs(Bids and Awards Committees) on the regional levels, though, perhaps, not all, can simply rig results, and award them to those who unduly gain their favors to the detriment of the legitimate winning bidders. “Right here in La Bella, Pencing, such malpractices or wrongdoings have been uncovered, and there are even cases filed and pending at present in the Ombudsman,” a top credible source vouched.

What I gathered, as well, from my close source—my old media pal covering Malacañang up to now, Pres. Duterte has already given his marching orders to conduct a full-blown investigation on the alleged wanton graft and corruption in the DOT now under the mantle of newly-appointed DOT Sec. “Berna” Romulo-Puyat. “Yes, the President has directed the DOTunder its new Sec. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat to run after the crooks in her DOT office, nationwide. So, you can expect “Mai”(for Mario, as he fondly addresses me up to now),that heads will roll down the ladder of  DOT,” my media comrade eavesdropping for Malacañang, bared over the weekend. That’s it, guys, the latest of which is being whisked towards this way. We’ll see what’s next in store by then. (30)
