Q.) WHICH SHOULD WE ALLOW TO REIGN, THE SPIRIT OR THE FLESH?

A.) ALWAYS LET OUR SPIRIT CONTROL OUR FLESH, AND NOT THE FLESH TO DO THE CONTRARY. “THIS I SAY THEN, WALK IN THE SPIRIT, AND YE SHALL NOT FULFILL THE LUST OF THE FLESH.”(GALATIANS 5:16). Email: jayfeliciano2@yahoo.com

“If by Friday(June 8), nothing happens between us and Meralco, then, we can declare failure of bidding (with them),” warned Zamcelco board Pres. Omar Sahi last Tuesday when interviewed by this corner. He said if that happens then Zamcelco has now the option to let other investors come in and participate when a new bidding will be open to any interested parties capable to invest in our power coop—of course through the same IMC concept.

Sahi informed that one huge investor in our country has expressed his desire to enter into contract with Zamcelco through IMC.

“Yes, Jun, there’s this big investor right now who just called us up this week, and he’s even veryeager to help rehabilitate our Zamcelco through IMC(Investment Management Contract),” bared Sahi who gave this corner a mere clue as who this supposed latest prospect to get into the picture for a possible joint venture with  Zamcelco through IMC.

But, a top Zamcelco source who spoke on condition of anonymity, named the new interested investor willing to enter into bidding with our power coop here as Michael L. Romero better known as Mikee Romero in the sports world.

“He’s financially capable to join in a possible new bidding if our proposed contract with Meralco bogs down,” the source said.

Romero, in my own research through the internet, is current owner of Global Port Batang Pier in the PBA. He’s right now Party-List Representative in the country’s 17thCongress. He is Vice Chairman of Air Asia Philippines, Chairman of the board of Global Port 900, Inc., formerly MIC Holdings Corp., Chairman of Manila North Harbour Port, Inc., Chairman of Mikro  Tech Capital, Inc. and Vice Chairman of Air Asia Philippines. His other interests include mining, hotels, a 20% stake in Air Asia Philippines and 15% in Alfred Yao’s Zest Airways.

That vitae alone of his means he’s somebody in business today, albeit that young at age 46.

Can he beat Meralco in terms of expertise as an independent power producer?

That’s a 64 dollar question they’re asking prex Sali.

“Jun, we’re going to create a special task force that’ll look into this aspect (expertise). So, bear with us.”

But, Sahi clarified they won’t discount the possibility of going into a swapping venture, as well—meaning, they’ll still entertain its other option to swap its present Putik site to an offered better site that’s more spacious and even more conducive to set up our new Zamcelco main office. Is that the Pasobolong property prex? Hope I’m right. But, let me apprise you, my readers, the Putik site where Zamcelco has been there in existence for about over two decades already, is the very area where Robinsons plans to build its megamall as we knew much earlier, prior to the coming in  of the IMC idea espoused no less by some of our local gov’t leaders here. But, due to  too much politics involved that accordingly scuttled management’s own plans to improve Zamcelco, it just fizzled out. The IMC concept was given more weight in the end, and Zamcelco’s top brasscouldn’t do otherwise but to push for it. Its first bidding process came, but, it was later declared a failure due to their disagreement on Zamcelco’sTerms of Reference (TOR). A new bidding was declared, but it again faltered, until the latest we gathered that Meralco is it, based on their fruitful negotiation for IMC with them.

However, on Tuesday, Sahi looked with pall in his face. Then, came the warning from him, “If Meralco will not respond by Friday(today ), then we can now declare  there’s failure in the bidding.” This, he said will pave the way to open a new bidding to all new parties interested to invest in our power coop, through same unaltered IMC concept. Hoping and praying it won’t end up with same nasty result being repeated all over again. Cay dol tan su’mut ya kita se uwiI MC keteI MC. Ohala cuneste c Mikee Romero, finally, it’ll come into fruition. Ohala Era. (By Jun Feliciano) (30)
