(Enlightenment—Passage of the Day)

Q.) IF INSULTED OR PERSECUTED, WHAT SHALL WE DO AS WISHED IN US BY GOD?

A.) THE BIBLE SAYS IF SOMEBODY INSULTED US, DON’T TRY TO RETALIATE, INSTEAD: “A FOOL IS QUICK-TEMPERED, BUT A WISE PERSON STAYS CALM WHEN INSULTED.” (PROVERBS 12:16). Email: jayfeliciano2@yahoo.com

OUR LADY Mayor Beng Climaco-Salazar appeared so emotional when facing the weekly CH press briefing yesterday (Aug. 6) on confronting a query coming from my very own direction that had something to do with this contentious issue brewing within the Zamcelco ranks. The nauseating issue is that the power coop here is, as always, highly-politicized. The lady hizzoner cited a column she came across, and whose column but Pencing that somehow caught me with my pants down, out to sow intrigues for nothing. While I admire our lady mayor for earnestly doing her utmost best for the welfare of her constituents—to include fighting tooth and nail in bringing to the attention of Pres. Duterte about the sorry plight of our power coop, lest our local folks will suffer from all these recurring blackouts/brownouts incase something, at its all worst, will happen, and will even plunge our whole city into total darkness,  I have to utterly disabuse her mind that such issue about Zamcelco being highly-politicized, didn’t stem from this humble corner. As I’ve said, the grumbling came from the Zamcelco top brass themselves. I’m merely doing my job as media. The lady mayor, though, is correct. As our local chief executive, she has all the rights to intervene for and in behalf of her constituents, especially the marginalized sector, whenever power outages happen due to Zamcelco’s nagging high system’s loss and its being heavily-indebted.

“If it’s only Mayor Beng doing the intervention, ok lang. But when other politicians will come in, that’s a different thing already. We don’t know whom to follow. It all boils down to politics, hinde’ ba Jun,” a top Zamcelco official expressed his consternation to this corner.

As I said, I’m just doing my job as media, period. Nuay personalan ki. Our political leaders shouldn’t even hate or reject criticisms. Criticisms are part of your life, nay doubt at all. Accept them for your own sake. “IF YOU REJECT CRITICISM, YOU ONLY HARM YOURSELF; BUT IF YOU ACCEPT THEM YOU GROW IN UNDERSTANDING. (Proverbs 15:32)

Due to time constraint, I have to wind up my column just up to here. Till next time folks. Get in touch, as always. (By Jun Feliciano)  (30)
