Q.) WHAT PROVES TO BE MAN’S ENEMY THAT LEADS HIM TO ETERNAL DAMNATION, INSTEAD BRINGING HIM TO ETERNAL SALVATION?

A.) “IN WHOM THE GOD (SMALL G) OF THIS WORLD HATH BLINDED THE MINDS OF THEM WHICH BELIEVE NOT, LEST THE LIGHT OF THE GLORIOUS GOSPEL OF CHRIST, WHO IS THE IMAGE OF GOD, SHOULD SHINE UNTO THEM.” (2 CORINTHIANS 4:4) Email: jayfeliciano2@yahoo.com

Damn if you do, damn if you don’t.

This could be the strong statement sent by the board of directors led by their prexy Omar Sahi to their detractors over the long-drawn controversy shrouding the  Investment Management Contract (IMC) that was ultimately approved by a throng of the member-consumers who attended and even filled to the rafters its own gymnasium inside its own Putik compound when it called the Annual General Management (AGMA) meeting last Tuesday, Sept. 11—one of the major perquisites to realize the IMC which is said the only shot in the arm to make the financially- beleaguered  power coop in our La Bella Zbga alive again. Crown Investment Holdings that entered into a joint venture with Desco Inc for the IMC, was the lone bidder that came to the aid of Zamcelco willing to invest the large moola amounting to P2.5 billion that the other competing bidders couldn’t simply match.

“Nobody came to object it (IMC). In-fact, I was surprised by its impact (the multitude of member-consumers who came to the AGMA),” Prexy Omar Sahi told Pencing when interviewed following the culmination of the AGMA that could even be one for the book in Zamcelco when its resolution for the IMC approval by its member-consumers during the AGMA, was believed the swiftest ever. “It only took about an hour for them (member-consumers) to approve it (IMC),” Sahi informed.

But, why the worry? I asked Sahi. Then, with a heavy heart, it seemed, he bluntly revealed they’d likely face a suit, as no less than the seven (7) electric coops (ECs) of TF Duterte headed by ZANECO (Zamboanga del Norte Electric Coop.) GM Adelmon Laput, reportedly declared the AGMA called by the Sahi-led board of directors, as illegal.

Because of the queer scenario, its reception—though, supposedly a breaking-through feat (some sectors claimed it surpassed the 10,000-mark attendance record) —was marred by scores of unsavory incidents, like a number in the crowd collapsed, because the venue wasn’t at all well-ventilated, as the power coop’s own electric fans and even its sound system, were accordingly padlocked by the Laput-led TF Duterte that’s currently overseeing Zamcelco’s managerial affairs. Its employees loyal to the TF Duterte didn’t show up to help in the conduct of the AGMA last Tuesday. “Our coop’s department heads were even sent out for an out-of-town travel just to make sure they had nothing to do with this AGMA,”  a top Zamcelco board source rued.

Even, Ms. Anne Salasain could face stiff sanction from TF Duterte for her alleged defiance as she opted to work with the  Omar Sahi-led group for the AGMA, the source added.

When sought for her reaction, Ms. Salasain chose not to make any further comments.

“We don’t care about what they say, or what action they’d take, as long as this is the only solution, and now approved by us during this AGMA, we’re thankful that finally this IMC is now realized for the good of us all--the member-consumers. Cay c hinde’ pa cunese apruba, kita gayot mga pobre ay sufri,” a member-consumer who claimed she voluntarily attended the AGMA, expressed elation.

Except, for board members Frederick “Ricky” Lim and Efren Famindalan, the rest of the eight (8) members of the board of directors of the city’s financially-strapped Zamcelco, were there in full force for the AGMA.

Mayor Beng Climaco-Salazar, several city councilors, and even former City Mayor Manny Dalipe, were spotted in the big crowd that came in huge figures, manifesting their all-out-support for the IMC. In-fact, it was Dalipe, father of the city’s Dist. 2 Congressman Mannix Dalipe, who strongly seconded for the approval of the IMC during the AGMA last Tuesday.

But, why still the worry shown in the faces of some members of the Zamcelco’s board of directors. “Cay illegal dao el AGMA, Pencing,” quipped a top Zamcelco source.

“Bahala ya cosa sila abla cay illegal, basta lang ay puede ya kita salva cunel diaton Zamcelco, cay buluk ya gayot el systema deste. Debe ya lang ace ya nuevo cunel mga equipo lli para hinde’ na tene kita mga rotating blackouts o brownouts pa,” a top Zamcelco official who opted not to be named, countered.

Nu anay, dol lehos ya man aton storya. “Conectao lang siempre se bossing.” Ha? Ebos gayot Bogs, intrigero gayot lang bos siempre! (By Jun Feliciano) (30)
