SO, it was Special Assistant to PRRD Bong Go who was our Zbga Hermosa Festival opening rites’ main guest and keynote speaker held at City Coliseum last Monday night. And who was there but our own lady Mayor Beng Climaco-Salazar to meet him, of course, as the city’s local chief executive on that night (Oct. 1), the day that kicked off the major highlights of the city’s annual Zbga Hermosa Festival to last till Oct. 11. The whole festivities will traditionally usher in the city’s biggest annual fiesta of our Lady of Pillar every Oct. 12.

Then, out of nowhere, came Mayor Beng’s critics’ negative remarks: “Jun, why’s it she (Mayor Beng) came to welcome personally SAP’s Bong Go last Monday night, but when Vice Pres. Leni Robredo and party were here the other month, she never showed up to welcome her? Ese egual pa sila Liberal.”

Acaba ya kita ste. Let our lady Mayor Beng answer herself, please, not me, you Popoy, ok?

Former City Mayor Manny Dalipe and his mistahs from PMA Class 67 celebrated their  Golden Jubilee last year with no less than PDu30 as their main guest and keynote speaker during their momentous occasion.

In same breath, PMA Class 67 made PRRD as their adopted mistah during the same affair that was held at the Baguio Country Club in Baguio City on Feb. 17, 2017.

Manny was the youngest of the 83 graduates, and was no. 7 from their PMA Class 1967 when they graduated. He joined the Philippine Air Force (PAF) in his fresh stint after graduation from the most prestigious military academy school in the entire Asia. He was known as amongst the few elite pilots from PAF for the first couple then, President and Mrs. Ferdinand Marcos  during their various official travels here and abroad. But, when politics lured him in 1980, “I was faced with a big dilemma of whether to remain with PAF or to join politics. I decided the latter as I was obsessed in serving my home city, Zamboanga,” the senior Dalipe stated.

Manny went on to serve as Vice Mayor when their Cesar C. Climaco for Mayor and Manuel Agustin Dalipe for Vice Mayor tandem almost swept the 1980 local polls with only one bet for city councilor in their entire lineup as their single casualty. The rest is history.

BUT, wait, while the erstwhile city mayor Dalipe and this corner were having our hearty chat--though, considered an exclusive interview, as well, someone rang  his cellphone, and Manny took up the sudden call. Then, the lady voice I heard was saying, “Mayor,…” They were both speaking in Bisaya. Then, I asked Manny (as I fondly and simply address him), “Manny, quien man kel? Dol c Inday Sara man kel?”  Then, Manny, modest as ever as I’ve known him back in our high school days (He was in his 3rd year then while I was in my first year in High School at the then Ateneo de Zamboanga (now ADZU), just shrugged it off, and didn’t reply either yes or no.“Nuay kel Jun. Tu gayot.”

That was it, guys, the most recent in our local politics. Hehehe.. (30)
