Engr. Labayog’s call akin to Moses’s call

(Enlightenment—Passage of the Day)

Q.) HOW TRUE IS IT THAT NOTHING CAN BE HIDDEN FROM THE SIGHT OF GOD?

A.) “FOR THEM NOT THEREFORE: FOR THERE IS NOTHING COVERED, THAT SHALL NOT BE REVEALED; AND HID, THAT SHALL NOT BE KNOWN.”  (Matthew 10:26) Email: jayfeliciano2@yahoo.com

ENGR. Allan Labayog is likened to Moses thousand years ago, calling out on the Pharaoh and his minions to repent, lest God would bring them great destruction that ultimately resulted in the end, as they continued to remain complacent.

Just like in these days when people--not through their own fault only, continued to take everything for granted, as well.

Engr. Labayog, ever since I came across his persistent calling for us to be already fully prepared for the so-called “big bang” is just around the corner.

At any moment in time, Sulu Trench could just give way, and repeat history when it likewise gave way in year 1897 (as Engr. Labayog incessantly made mention whenever media interviews him) with a huge magnitude of 8 in its richter scale.

It was one horrific scenario as it left  thousands of lives killed and massive devastation of properties right here in la bella, and its neighboring vicinities.

Engr. Labayog was for the nth time invited by our local gov’t, but, relatively rare these recent days, and one more time, issued same stern warning to the public about the unpredictable brewing danger of the Sulu trench, described as nearer to our la bella compared to the Cotabato trench that triggered the August 1976 killer quake, resulting to thousands of lives lost and enormous properties left in rubbles.

Engr. Labayog mentioned of the so-called two-way traffic when media sought an answer as how prepared are we here in la bella and the environs when big quakes strike us just so sudden.

Labayog said hinting that while the local gov’t might be ready, “Are its people well prepared for such an eventuality?”

“I’ll ask you (pointing to the press), are you ready?” And, their dull expression said it all— gravely, just not prepared, at all.

See? And, what’s worse, our local gov’t has kept on mentioning that the supposed much ballyhooed evacuation center to rise at the Cabatangan complex in Brgy. Cabatangan whose still existing hills overlook the nearly entire panoramic view of the La Bella Zbga., is not our project but of the national gov’t through DPWH.

See? How sluggish we are! We’ve heard them sing same tune so long ago, and same tune we simply hear from them up to now. Haven’t they ever resorted to lobbying for the sake of their own constituents, when major crises hound us, as if nay rest, at all?

Our supposed two top leaders, Mayor Beng Climaco-Salazar and Dist. 1 Cong. Celso Lobregat, ironically, running against each other in the much-awaited mayoralty showdown this coming 2019 midyear elections, were both, once upon a time, at the summit of their political careers, speaking of their sterling status on the national level: Mayor Beng, when then our lady solon, representing Dist. 1, was designated as Deputy House Speaker for Mindanao during then Pres. Noynoy Aquino administration, while (Dist. 1) Cong. Celso was recently the chairman of the powerful house Committee on Public Works and Highways, until he was sacked just this year when there was that sudden turn of events in the Lower House as then Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez was booted out from his post, and his replacement is now Pampanga Congresswoman (former Pres.) Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. “What did they do, Jun, when both of them were given those juicy posts, then? They did nothing, at all, right?”

What more can I add? More to come, next time, for sure. Thanks, you, folks. (By Jun Feliciano) (30)
