Walk the Talk

A friend of mine recounted his experience regarding the safety concerns at the recently completed construction of the expansion of the Cawa Cawa Boulevard.

It is good to see the improvement the city is doing especially this will attract tourists. I was impressed by the keen improvement on the area when I happened to pass by the area after the foretelling. However, just like my friend who raised this concern, the boulevard extensions ends steeply towards the deep portion of the Cawa-Cawa shore. If someone would fall from the side of the concrete platforms, he or she would have to swim a far distance since there is no mode of coming up to shore at the sides of the boulevard. I imagine if small kids would accidentally tripped and fall down, the one who would save the kid would have very difficult manner of reaching safety.

Taking all the needed precaution is very important especially the families who are strolling by are with their children whereas one is not akin to safety. As my friend and I are hoping that the City Governments Officials would look and work out on the safety features of the newly-widened boulevard by installing mechanism to embark upon from the sides of the concrete platforms like steel ladders or rubber counter trap that one can hold on to if one accidentally falls down from the sides of the boulevard. Presence of city personnel who would overlook and supervise the area would also be very helpful.

Accordingly, this same issue is very evident with Paseo del Zamboanga. There are no such measures as installed metal ladders to minimize accidents. As the cliché goes that it’s better to be prepared than to be caught empty handed.

I hope city officials would look into this matter with keen urgency.

May 8, 2011 is a day of history to all. It was a historic win for Cong. Manny Pacquiao. It was also a historic win for the Talk and Text Tropang Texters as they bagged the Championship Trophy of the PBA Commissioners Cup over the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings. We also witness the sweep of the 2nd round Playoff series for the Maverick Grizzlies over the back to back defending Champion LA Lakers and lastly, the opening of the Palarong Pambansa at Dapitan City with no less than VP Jejomar Binay as the Key Note speaker in lieu of the absence of President Benigno Aquino who is presently out of the country for an equally important event.

Sports enthusiasts are at the helm of these celebrations. To all the winners, Congratulations and for those who did not win, Better luck next time.

To the Zamboanga delegation to the Palarong Pambansa, it is not just by winning medals that you can bring home that counts but by how well you played the sport despite of the outcome. Remember that you are there to show what you’ve got and to gain friends. Whatever is the result, so be it; As long as all of you would enjoy. Good luck and Congratulations to all of you.
