Sobriety amidst AFP-MILF Encounter

PDFPrintE-mail

The Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society, Inc. (CBCS), a non-governmental organization (NGO) striving for the attainment of Christian-Muslim  solidarity  and advocating for permanent peace in Mindanao, called on all citizens, Christians and Muslims alike, to maintain sobriety and composure amidst the prevailing tense situations caused by the recent armed encounters between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)/Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in Western Mindanao.

The CBCS strongly maintains that the “No All Out War Policy” of President Aquino must be observed and the continuance of Peace Talks be given a chance as these are the best measures yet to resolve the protracted insurgency in Mindanao. In maintaining this postures, the CBCS considers military solution to the insurgency problem and peace and order problems as not the best solution to the problems.

The CBCS, in the meantime, expresses its condolence to the families of those who died in the encounters and compassion to the displaced persons now suffering in “refugee centers”. And, it finally prays for the government and the MILF to consider peaceful means to end the wasteful lost of lives and sufferings of innocent people.
