The Zamboanga Social Welfare Development Multi-Purpose Cooperative or ZAMSOWEDCO, a strong and sustainable cooperative responsive to the needs of its members, will be moving to its new residence at the Bangayan Building, General Vicente Alvarez Street corner Villalobos Street. They will have the blessing and inauguration of its new office today, November 30, 2011.
ZAMSOWEDCO started as City Social Welfare and Development Office Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CSWDOEMPC) in October 1999, which caters exclusively to the employees of the City Social Welfare and Development.
Registered with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) under Registration No. 9520-09002007, and issued a Cooperative Identification Number or CIN 0105090046, has evolved from a regular cooperative to one that responds to the socio-economic needs of the community through efficient and expanded delivery of programs and services like supplemental feeding (Arroz Caldo) to the street children of the Social Development Center, giving free school supplies to the indigent pupils of Lumayang Elementary School, grocery items to the Indigent Persons with Disabilities and Indigent Families at Barangay Tetuan, this city.
ZAMSOWEDCO now boasts of its total assets, members’ equity and statutory funds of more Twenty Five Million Pesos as of October of this year. Its members now totaled 720 from the city government of Zamboanga employees, National government employees, barangay officials, retirees, business individuals.
At present, the cooperative has a credit line with the Land Bank of the Philippines in the amount of Fifteen Million pesos. It has obtained financial assistance from the Cooperative Rural Enterprise Economic Development Office or CREEDO) of the city government of Zamboanga through the Honorable City Mayor Celso L. Lobregat. It has also received technical and financial assistance from Land Bank. Mr. Francisco L. Barredo, the City Social Welfare and Development Officer, also extended his all-out moral and tangible support since the birth of the cooperative.
ZAMSOWEDCO envisions to be a strong and sustainable cooperative responsive to the needs of its members, with common goals and aspiration, managed by competent, dedicated and honest leaders geared towards building a progressive and God-centered community.
Its mission is to continue to improve the quality of life of members and community through better delivery of financial and technical services. It shall promote and foster healthy work atmosphere to ensure highest degree of professionalism and integrity,
ZAMSOWEDCO is managed by a competent, honest, committed and God-fearing Board of Directors: Amelita Y. Lachica, Christina P. Arevalo, Leonida T. Bayan, Zenaida L. Castro, Priscilla G. Alejandro, Aisa B. Sakaluran and Georgina S. Calumpong. Board Secretary is Alvin G. Alfonso, Treasurer is Rachel D. Fernandez. The Management Staff is composed of Cooperative Manager Vilma G. Ponce, Loan Officer Catherine N. Luna and Cashier Jennylou Balancar. The different committees of ZAMSOWEDCO are Credit Committee, Educational/Training Committee, Audit and Inventory and Committee on Election.
