Christmas message of Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile

This Christmas season, I join the Christian world, and the whole Senate family, in celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

In this season of joy and anticipation, my wish list for you is long: I wish you PEACE in your families and communities, peace in your hearts, and peace for our country. I wish you GOOD HEALTH; I wish you STRENGTH AND FORTITUDE to endure the storms that may come your way and to withstand the challenges, stresses and pressures of your daily lives; I wish you all renewed FAITH and a greater sense of HOPE for the future. I wish you all of these and more.

On behalf of your elected Senators and the Senate Secretariat officials, I wish you ABUNDANCE AND JOY.

At this point, let us also be reminded of the need to prepare and save for the rainy days ahead, to pour ourselves seriously and diligently to our work, and to be mindful of those around us who are bereft of the very things we tend to take for granted. And yes, let us remember to count our many blessings.

Let us also be reminded that it is our shared duty to ensure that we do not go overboard, that we spend taxpayers’ money with care and caution, that we do not violate any law, and that we serve with no less than the dedication expected of us as civil servants.

I am hopeful that with honest, competent and hardworking men and women serving this Institution, we can perform the task that is uniquely assigned to us- that is, to craft legislation that can help uplift the lives of our countrymen and to stand as faithful and zealous champions of our people’s rights and genuine aspirations.

Let us thank the Almighty for sustaining us through many difficult times in the past, and let our humble work and actions be instruments to spread God’s great love.

Maraming salamat sa inyong patuloy na pagtitiwala. Samahan ninyo sana ako sa aking pangarap na mapag-buti at mapag-tibay ang Senado bilang Senado ng mamamayang Pilipino.
