LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away… For those who are evil will be destroyed… A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found…” (Psalm 37:1-2, 9-10, the Holy Bible).
CONGRATS, GOOD KAPAMPANGANS: Tan-taraannn!!! Congratulations to the outstanding natives of San Fernando City, Pampanga, for 2012: community volunteer health worker Emenciana David-Canlas for community service; Rev. Fr. Francis Dizon for social service; Renato Legaspi of Celtech College for business; Dr. Mediatriz Martin of the University of the Assumption for education; and Jojit Villareal, popularly known as Ara Muna, for entertainment.
Also chosen were village chief Genius Prieto for youth service; Ambassador to Vietnam Jerrit Santos for government service; community developer and United Methodist Church pastor Rev. Elias Talavera for religious service; and Sfelapco corporate communications officer Irwin Nucum for civic service. May your tribe increase, not only in Pampanga, but in the whole Philippines!
GRACE IBUNA AND ACCOUNTABILITY: I admire Grace Ibuna, the live-in partner of Negros Occ. Ignacio Arroyo before he died in London last week, for the strength of her convictions, but then, she must remember that all the things that she did, whether she regrets doing them or not, will all be accounted for before God at the proper time. Ecclesiastes 12:14 of the Holy Bible says: “For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.”
LAWYER DISMAYED WITH SURVEY CUT: Former President George Briones of the Quezon City Integrated Bar of the Philippines seems dismayed that the Inquirer appears to have cut short its survey asking its readers to guess whether the Senate will convict or acquit Chief Justice Renato Corona, after votes showed a trend in favor of acquitting Corona. Briones posted his seeming dismay in his Facebook account Sunday night, February 5, 2012. My take: so, what else is new?
“ILLICIT RELATIONSHIPS” OF DEFENSE LAWYERS? Something is wrong with Ako-Bicol Party List Rep. Rodel Batocabe. Over the weekend, he threatened to expose alleged “illicit relationships” of defense lawyers in the impeachment of Corona, if they did not stop their attacks on the prosecution team. Does this mean that Batocabe will simply clam up if the prosecution lawyers are spared from criticisms from the defense?
If there are “illicit relationships” among defense lawyers, whatever that means, Batocabe has an obligation to expose them, and not use them as chips to gag attacks against the prosecution, in much the same way that he, as a representative of the Filipino people, has an obligation to expose any “illicit relationships” among the prosecutors and all others in government, if he knows of any.
MIRACLE WAITING TO HAPPEN: REGAINING RP FOR PINOYS: Regaining the Philippines for its poor citizens is as easy as singing “A-B-C, 1-2-3” or “Do, Re, Mi”. All that is needed to start empowering poor Filipinos for success is for them to learn the habit of reading the Bible, especially the parts thereof which dwell with God’s blessings, and then, for them to follow what they read.
This is according to what the Bible itself says in its many, many verses, like Deuteronomy 28:1-2, Isaiah 40:31, Proverbs 3:1-2 and Matthew 6:33. In all of these Biblical passages, the message is one and the same: to succeed and gain tremendous wealth, power and prestige, we must seek God by listening to His Word and obeying His commands. Today, let us try to do this and watch miracles happen that would allow Filipinos to regain our country from foreign dominance!
