LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you…” (Hebrews 13:17, the Holy Bible).
P3.8 B FOR KINDERGARTEN GOING TO WASTE: By this time, the government has already allocated some P3.8 billion for its mandatory kindergarten program all over the country. This is a lot of money, but it is in danger of going to waste once again, just like what is happening to the funding for the elementary and high school programs of the Department of Education.
Why? Because of a glaring defect in the kindergarten curriculum, lacking as it does any spiritual instruction---either from the Christian Bible or from the Muslim Koran. This is wrong. We need to train our children to have fear and love of God, whether they be Christians or Muslims. Children who have not been trained to have the fear and love of God grow up to be godless, corrupt, vindictive, and abusive.
Undeniably, those among us who do not have the fear and love of God steal government money easily, dupe their fellow human beings with ease and abuse everyone---friends and families alike---as a matter of course, and find ways to exact revenge. This is the reason why the Filipino nation remains mired in poverty and difficult lives.
REAL INSTRUCTION FOR FILIPINO KIDS: Real instruction for our children can come only from teachings about God and, for us Christians, about Jesus, our God and Savior. In Proverbs 22:6, the Bible tells us: “Train the child in the way he should go and he will never depart from it when he grows old”.
In Ephesians 6:5: “Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” In Deuteronomy 6:4-7: “Hear, O Israel… the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children…”
It is a pity that this kind of an instruction is no longer being given to Filipino children; even inside their very homes, God and His Word are no longer taught and discussed. Since our kids are no longer taught the Word of God, they grow up without God, and if they grow up without God, whom are they growing up with?
CHURCH AND STATE DOCTRINE ON SPIRITUAL TEACHINGS: Of course, many contend that teaching school children about God violates the Constitutional admonition about the separation of Church and State. But then, separation of Church and State only means the Church should not meddle in government and vice versa. It does not concern teaching spirituality to our children. In its Preamble, the Constitution in fact invokes “the aid of the Almighty”.
INSOMNIA? EAT THESE! From Facebook: “Have difficulty sleeping? You do not have to take drugs or alcohol to make you sleep. Here are a few examples of what you can eat and drink to guarantee a full 8 hours of bed time the natural way---bananas, warm milk, honey, oatmeal, wheat bread. Try them!
SANTIAGO-AGUIRRE CAPER: Here’s something from the Bible about the Vitaliano Aguirre-Miriam Defensor Santiago caper: Titus 3:1-2 says: “Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient…” 1 Peter 2:13 says: “Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, or to governors…”
