Motorcycle collides with truck, girl dead

An eighteen-year-old girl was killed while her brother cheated death after the motorcycle they were riding accidentally collided with a truck with trailer, along Buenavista Street junction San Jose Road, this city, Sunday night.

Reports coming from Police Station 11 identified the fatality as Jessa Almario y Rabor, 18, single, a native of Fama, Olutanga Municipality, Zamboanga Sibugay Province. Her brother, Joseph, 19, single, escaped unharmed.

Initial police investigation showed that both victims were onboard a Honda motorcycle bearing plate number 4675-JB, driven by Joseph travelling the stretch of Buenavista Street, Barangay Zone II.Ahead of them was the prime mover truck bearing plate number ACI-1405 with trailer palte number JUA-461 owned by METROZAM Haulers Incorporated.

Police said, the motorcycle overtook the truck but accidentally sideswiped the left rear portion of the trailer that resulted to the fatal accident.

The truck driver managed to apply the emergency break, preventing his vehicle from running over the girl and his brother who were thrown under the truck.

A concerned citizen who witnessed the accident immediately aided the victims and brought them to UZ hospital.

Probers said that after hours of medication, the girl was pronounced dead by the attending physician.

A deeper investigation is being conducted by the Traffic Section of Police Station 11. (Eugene A. Lasprilla)
