ASG supporter nabbed in Zambo

Combined units of the Intelligence Branch of the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) and the Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency 9 (PDEA9),recently arrested an alleged Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) supporter in a raid at Sampaloc Drive, Barangay Talon-Talon, this city.

Chief Inspector Edilberto Alvarez, Chief of the Intelligence Branch, ZCPO said, a search warrant was served at the residence of a certain Jim Abdul Sahibul, where two M26 live fragmentation hand grenades and six large transparent plastic sachets were discovered.

The search warrant with number 1-17-16,was issued by RTC 9, Judicial Regional, Branch 15 for violation of section 11 of Article II of R.A. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, against the suspect.

The suspect was brought to the PDEA 9 headquarters for investigation before he will be presented to the court for the disposition of the case.

Alvarez told Zamboanga Today that Sahibulconspired with ASG members in the foiled abduction of a politician’s brother, Dr. Armando Ituralde, a local physician, while he was inside his clinic at his residence in Talon-Talon last October 16, 2015.

He added that the planning and meetings of the ASG members were held at Sahibul’s residence while their firearms were kept at Sta. Catalina.
