A member of the Philippine Marines and his wife survived a gun attack at Sunrise Village, Barangay Guiwan, on Monday night.

The victims were identified as Technical Sergeant Randy Rayteran y Tonga, 39, married and his wife, Analisa Rayteran y Anico, 38, both residents of the same place.

The soldier was hit on his left arm and upper right leg while his wife suffered a gunshot wound on her right buttock.

Despite being hurt, the husband managed to drive his motorcycle towards their neighbors for assistance and both were rushed to Zamboanga Peninsula hospital.

Initial investigation conducted by personnel of Police Station 5 showed that the couple was onboard their motorcycle coming from Barangay Tumaga, and upon reaching in front of Guiwan Elementary School, the suspects approached them and one of the two suspects shot the couple.

The suspects immediately boarded a color black motorcycle and sped towards unknown direction after the incident.

Police investigation showed that five spent shells and a slug of a caliber .45 pistol were recovered at the crime scene.

A deeper investigation is being conducted for the possible identification and arrest of the gunmen.

Chief Inspector Arlan Delumpines told Zamboanga Today that they are not discounting the angles of personal grudge and robbery/hold-up as motive of the incident. (Eugene A. Lasprilla)
