The Eco-Systems Technology, Inc., the contracting company that undertakes the ongoing pipe laying project of the Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD), hopes to finish the entire project by June in time for the opening of classes for School Year 2017-2018.

ESTI consultant Engr. Antonio Sta. Elena told the press briefing Monday that restoration works on the affected roads will resume as soon as the company’s heavy equipment will arrive.

He said the restoration equipment consisting of rollers; pay loaders and others were on transit to Zamboanga City and were expected to arrive here on Thursday.

“Once we have the equipment, we can fast track the restoration works, and we will start from the city proper, Climaco Ave. all the way to San Jose Road then Baliwasan to Suterville and the rest of the projects sites,” Engr. Sta. Elena said.

“We are hoping we will be able to ‘energize’ the main line at Suterville by end of May and all other pipelines will follow. This time, our concentration is from Suterville down to the city proper,” he added.

Sta. Elena was optimistic that ESTI will be able to complete and wrap up the entire pipe laying project by June, just in time for school opening during which heavy traffic is expected.

In the meantime, the ZCWD has assured the public that it has sufficient water supply at the moment except that turbidity is causing a little problem on quality.

However, the operation of Prime Water continues to produce the desired water quality.-(Vic Larato)
