The Lamitan police have identified the suspected bombers who allegedly planted an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) outside the residence of Councilor Arleigh Eisma on Thursday last week in Lamitan City.

Chief Insp. Alan Benasing, Lamitan police chief disclosed that Andullah Indanan, an alleged sub-leader of the Abu Sayyaf Group and some of his cohorts are responsible in the incident.

Benasing said extortion was the motive of the bombing.

According to authorities, the councilor earlier received extortion letter from the bandit group asking for protection money which the official did not give.

It will be recalled that last week, a mild explosion was heard outside the councilor’s residence. When the guards checked, they found another unexploded IED in the area which was immediately disposed by the police bomb squad.

Before the explosion, one of Eisma’s relatives received a text message written in Iyakan dialect which reads “Iyu Ne”, meaning “its there.”

The Lamitan police said, Indanan has a standing warrant of arrest for kidnapping. (Nonong Santiago)
